Bump-

What a cool thread. I didn't know there were so many people interested in Zemaitis guitars. I've loved 'em since I was a kid, even built a few replicas.

I guess I don't know how to insert a picture but the link above will take you to my photo.

Hi Sssoul

On the catalogue, there's no more information
I will check on the site if the archives are still there and let you know if so...

There's a Japanese copy of the W Zemaitis 'Stay With Me' style guitar for sale in one of those guitar shops in Denmark Street, about a grand. I saw it the other day.

Thanks!

Anyone know exactly what type o pickup selector (3 buttons) where on the disc front stay with me z? Where could I find one for my new Greco z?

I don't think it's a pickup selector, just 3 "casual" sliding switches (one for each pickup), side by side.

Hello all guitar geeks, may somebody help me?

I´m thinking about ask my luthier to make a "replica" of the Ronnie Wood Pearlfront Zemaitis that was stolen in the late 70´s
It´s this one:

I think it has: mahogany body and neck with 24 frets ebony fretboard, mother of pearl over a plain maple body top and on the headstock, i think it´s got 1 volume and 1 tone knob for each pickup and a master volume? on the upper side of the body, a 5 way switch, 3 single coils strat type pickups?, aluminium? bridge and tailpiece....

My main doubts are what pickups to choose(thought about some Strat hot output type), if the wiring has some out of phase/boost circuit, and the techniques Tony used to make chambered bodysto make the guitar light weight and resonant

Cheers

So ronnie's disc front is hollow and stuffed with cotton according to Babuik's book. What was the thinking by Tony on this?

Thanks in advance!

Bring's some delta blues to Ronnie's playing. grinning smiley

Seriously, I'm guessing it's an effort to dampen the acoustic vibrations that can result from the hollow cavity. The relatively large cavity being so close to the pickups could probably cause some unwanted effects. Especially in environments where the stage volume is loud and sympathetic vibrations from the amps and drums could be set up in the cavity.

peace

Wow this is a great thread thanks to Mathijs and the others in the know... I had a shot to buy a single pick-up Z owned by The Pretenders after James' death. $2000, cheap and I foolishly passed on it. One thing sticks in my mind after reading here is how many guitars were stolen from The Stones. It's really disheartening people would rip them off of their favorite musical tools. Who'd want to own a Keith guitar acquired in such a manner?

I agree to that. The guitar has milled-out portions for the electronics i.e. booster but is for sure not a hallow body guitar as an Gibson ES 335 for example. I can only guess, that Babuik meant that all these milled-out portions are filled with cotton.

Anyone interessted seeing detailled pictures of an excact replica of Ronnies Discfront? These would probably explain the hallow body confusion.
