He keeps his cigarette lighter in there because he keeps changing shirts on stage and he's afraid he would forget to take it out of the shirt pocket.

LOL. Nope. He's bald and thats why he wears a bandana.

Well, he's not bald EXACTLY...he does have hair (but he's hair challenged)....Bald means NO hair....Sunny Bandy, it's a look man, like Jim Morrison's leather pants, like Bono and his fly sunglasses.....SEE? YES

Why Keith Richards wears headband?

Cause he'd look silly with a garter-belt.

OK, Serious answer now.

Apart from the obvious sweatbad function and the "scallywag" fashion statement...
...it sort of pushes the hair he does have up together for more hairsuit appearence.

There ;^)

But the man's got style! He doesn't wear a hairpiece (that's not ageing in style - that's pathetic!), and the scarves/hairbands/bandanas look good on him. So do the hats - even when he's wearing two. He's a fashion icon - a trendsetter - the coolest cat alive. Just love the man.

yes a hairpiece is a disgrace, but implants would be ok

He dyes his hair, he might as well go all the way and get hair implants. The headband has nothing to do with hair loss, though, it is to protect his head if he falls out of a coconut tree. He wore it for years for that reason, then the one day he forgets to put it on ...

Ohnonotyouagain - do you know a man named Mickawber? You sound like his brother, mother, cousin or sister.
BTW - when we graduate from kinder garten, most of us call "coconut trees" by another name: Palm...
And no, Keith would never go to such idiotic actions as to get a hair implant. Doing H and Smack etc is one thing. Drilling little holes in your skull to put in little cyllinders with one hair on, that's just stupidity. It doesn't make anyone more sexy. It actually takes away sex appeal. He'd never do it, because he has enough self esteem to age in style. That's why he's so cool. And no, it's not inappropriate for a man to say Keith is the coolest man around. It's just stating a fact. Even people suffering from amnesia and homophobia can make statements - air their oppinions. Go for it, boys! Tell us what you really think of Keith. I must admit that if I were a man, I sure would have liked to be just as cool as he is.

The headband is really a Poltus of some sort to promote hair growth.

Ahhah!! Shidoobee's post below made a light go on over my head:

"Doing H and Smack etc is one thing. Drilling little holes in your skull to put in little cyllinders with one hair on, that's just stupidity."

Now I understand! It hit me when I saw 'doing H' and 'drilling holes' in the same sentence.

Keith dove out of the Palm tree so he could get a hole drilled into his head. Now he has a ready made line to the brain and can use less H to get his highs.

"make up your mind, 'cause I gotta go"

I think Implants have been tried according to some folks. However the end results have been less than desired.

The Poltus bandana is an attempt to promote hair growth.

I hope future attempts at Implants are more successful than previous attempts.

Yes, a hair piece would be a disgrace.

1cdog - or should we say Mickawber? Hair implants have not been tried. You're the only person who keeps going on about that. And I can't understand why anyone should do hair implants. Especially Keith. He's just wonderfull the way he's ageing. The man's got so much style. And dignity - and that just doesn't match with hair implants. Hair implants can be traced for years and years and never look natural. I've seen close ups of Keith showing that he has certainly NOT had such treatment. And I know men who have done it. It doesn't look good.

It looks better than a stupid towel... He's cool! And that picture's great. He sprayed the pants and the shoes himself. In other words - a designer.

Dear Tralala,

No need to get personal about hair implantssmiling smiley You don't agree with me that's fine.

However if you are no more accurate about your opinion on hair implants as you are in insinuating that the cdog has aliases then my friend you are sadly mistaken on both accounts!

As for your close up inspections of Keith's hair -- well I wouldn't know. If you have the time though from your grooming tasks take a look at some of the photos of the Julliard performance on May 10, 2005, and shows then later on during the tour. There has also been much speculation on the issue from other dates and times over the years. Bottom line though it is all speculation.
