Mick and Jimi jam 27/11/69: from Record Collector

Hendrix collector Yzid Manou says his American friend Deering Howe has a tape of Jagger, Hendrix and himself jamming, recorded on 27/11/69 after the MSG show. Songs are mainly from Let It Bleed. Apparently this session includes the birth of Jimis song Dolly Dagger.

It's before the 27/11 show, and has no sound....
Hendrix is playing one of Mick Taylor's guitars from memory, and also takes a look at Keith's "see-through" guitar

Regarding Dolly Dagger:

Mick & probably some other Stones attended Jimi's 27th birthday party after the MSG show. During the party, Jagger cut his finger. When he asked for a Band-Aid, Hendrix's live-in girlfriend Devon Wilson said "That won't be necessary," and proceeded to suck the blood from Jagger's finger, with Hendrix standing there witnessing the whole thing. This event was mentioned in "Dolly Dagger" ("She drinks her blood from a jagged edge.").

Hendrix & Jagger were quite friendly, but there was apparently a bit of rivalry between them. Jimi supposedly pulled Marianne Faithful in his early London days. He also he had a pretty serious (for Hendrix) relationship with Keith's girlfriend Linda Keith. Legend has it that the white Stratocaster that Jimi brought to England was in fact one that Linda "borrowed" from Keef's NYC hotel room in the summer of 1966.

I'm 'watts fan' here, but I'm a Hendrix fanatic everywhere.

On that same MSG '69 backstage footage, You can see Keith & Jimi chatting together in a slightly reserved, but also very friendly manner.

I don't think that Jimi (left handed) could have done a good job with MT's guitar

Jimi's guitars were strung as if played by a right handed player and he learned to play upside down.

Jimi could play a guitar strung for a right hander (ala Albert King) quite well in fact. Such was his talent!

No, Jimi played a right-handed guitar strung for a lefty. Jimi was a left-handed guitarist who played guitars strung for lefties (unlike someone like Dick Dale, who truly plays 'upside down').

Jimi could play *any* guitar.

You misunderstood me watts fan. I know very well that Jimi played right handed guitars strung for a lefty. My comment was that he could play a guitar strung for a right hander as well. Perhaps I should have stated that he could play a guitar strung for a right hander left handed, ala Albert King.

It was recorded in a hotel after the show. This isn't film outtakes from Gimme Shelter and doen't have Mick Taylor on it.

Sorry that I misunderstood you, ChrisM. You're certainly correct -- Jimi could play a guitar strung for a righty. He could also play bass strung righty.

As Mitch Mitchell once said "He probably could've played with his toenails."

It was recorded at the Navarro Hotel with Deering playing harmonica.

I'm left handed and could play a right handed guitar upside down (albeit badly). But Jimi and Albert King could do it no problem.

Jimmi is they only guitar player who controlled the guitar.
You can't get more out a guitar as he did.
