strange lyric lines.
Posted by: Anonymous User ()

"lets spend the night together, now" :

always find this part of the lyrics a bit, dunno
like, "lets do something tomorrow, now"

do you remember another strange lyric lines?

"if you start me up" always struck me as an odd lyric, frankly. I think we sort of dismiss it and take it for granted, but it's just weird when you think about it.

"When the train goes around the bend, check the shrubbery on the other end"

those troubadours who get killed before they reach Bombay.
none (0) of the "explanations" i've read makes any sense.
(just to forestall a rerun of nonexplanations that don't make sense:
the actual historical troubadours didn't have anything to do with Bombay;
and if anyone wants to say he meant Ghandi or drug smugglers or hippie types,
then you gots to explain how in the world the term "troubadour" applies to any of those people.)

I'm a flea-bit, peanut monkey....

I'm a cold-Italian pizza, I could use a lemon squeezer.

Never really understood this song too much.
I actually don't even know what a Monkey Man is supposed to be.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Perhaps Baboon Bro could post a picture of himself to help our girl out here...

Is that all it really is, just a hairy guy? I never took it that literally, I assumed it was just that I wasn't smart enough to figure it out. ;-)

But Baboon, do not let that disuade you from posting your picture! Hey, post a picture of you with one of the Stones. Have you guys already done that? I'd like to see everyone's pictures.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

He's a monkey man, he's loose.

We all know what a lemon squeezer is, no?

isn't monky man about heroin addiction?

heroin being the monkey on the addicts back.

Also, i have seen that song used as a backdrop in a couple of movies/tv shows about drig addiction.

I always thought it was strange with the Jagger-comment on "Ladies & Gentlemen":
"A few things busted. A few aunts stroken, and a few things busted."

I get a chuckle watching both Mick and Keith play Monkey Man on the Four Flicks DVD. Like which one here is the monkey?

Personally, I never got the line:

"It's just that demon life has got you in its sway"

What the heck is a sway? Or should it really be "its way"? Either way that grammar makes me cringe. I guess that's why I never saw what the big deal was about that song.

it's a:

a few strings broken, a few hearts broken... (Keith had busted a string on his guitar, which prompted this)...

That bad way of living has got you under it's power. You've fallen pray to the temptations in life, and those same temptations now hold sway over you (they control you).

>> Either way that grammar makes me cringe. <<
it's perfectly standard grammar.
(sway is a mass noun, so it's not "a sway", it's just sway.)
it means control, power, etc.
"that evil life has got you under its thumb" wouldn't fit the meter.

How about Casino Boggie.

Never managed to firgure that one out:

No good, can't speak, wound up, no sleep.
Sky diver insider her, skip rope, stunt flyer.
Wounded lover, got no time on hand.
One last cycle, thrill freak Uncle Sam.
Pause for bus'ness, hope you'll understand.
Judge and jury walk out hand in hand.
Dietrich movies, close up boogies,
Kissing @#$%& in Cannes.

Grotesque music, million dollar sad.
Got no tactics, got no time on hand.
Left shoe shuffle, right shoe muffle,
Sinking in the sand.
Fade out freedom, steaming heat on,
Watch that hat in black.
Finger twitching, got no time on hand

You want STRANGE LYRICS ???

There's only one band for you: The Chili Peppers...

"Meet me at the Coffee SHop... we can dance like Iggy Pop..."

"Christ I'm a sidewinder... a California King... I swear it's everywhere, it's everything..."

Anthony Kiedis, America's greatest reigning "surrealistic poet"... sort of picked up where Robert Hunter left off.

"It's just that demon life has got me in it's sway..."

'I could use a lemon squeezer'

Hi everybody,
I just want to tell you, that lemon juice is using during preparation of heroin dose (heroin mix with lemon juice), so that explains this line a little bit, by the way I'm not drug user.

What's strange about it? "If you start me up". What then? If you start him up he tells you he'll never stop. Easy as that...

Yeah, maybe I'm wrong, I just was listenig Monkey Man and that thought of heroin and lemon juice mixing came in my mind.

'you can squeeze my lemons til the juice run down my leg'

You know, I am not Led Zeppelin fan, actually I don't understand to this line, what does it mean? Is it some kind of sex play, or what?
