This really pissed me off when today I listening to the new album with my buddies and they were all saying he cant sing. They say he just talks or screams real loud. What can I counter with. I mean they are partly right. I think I will make an album of great songs where he is singing and give it to these guys. Already Over Me and Aint to Proud to Beg comes to mind. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

stonedmike is right - he is not a great singer in the traditional sense. but, he has no peers as a frontman, IMO. I could name you dozens of mainstream rock singers that can sing circles around Mick - but none of them could get so many arses off their seats at a show as our man.

good vocal technique is knowing what your voice can do and making it distinctive, and Mick Jagger ain't lacking at either one.
there are lots of guys who project their disappointment in themselves and their lives, achievements, abilities etc onto the Rolling Stones. don't fret about these guys, just encourage them to run along and do something to make the world a beautiful place. Mick's singing isn't what's stopping them.

Just tell them they have NO TASTE, are TOTALLY WRONG and THEY NEED TO OPEN THEIR EARS! Not to mention that they're all just plain OUT OF TOUCH!

He really cant sing but Bob Dylan is no Soprano either, Mick is the singer in the Rolling Stones thats it and when he tries to sing it sounds even worse. As a front man yes he is probably one of the best.

I've gotta say, that boy from the London School of Economics....he can SING! Sure there's been times where people might've thought "Nah, Mick can't really sing!" but just tell your buddies to listen to a song like Worried About You or Emotional Rescue! Tell them to try singing with that falsetto voice. I tried it once and it hurt my vocal cords big time! lol

You seem to be a true Stones fan so just ignore your friends opinions about Mick's singing. Music is very subjective so enjoy and play the Stones all you can and most will come around to your way of thinging.

Besides it how the songs make you feel that matters. Reach into their numerous catalog of albums and enjoy the Greatest Band of all time!

Nobody would care what kind of a frontman he is if they had 400 + songs the quality of New Faces so, obviously he did something right singing wise.

YES BOBM, HE REALLY CAN SING! They may not like his style of singing but he can put a song across like no one else! And I happen to like the old bluesmen's singing as well because it isn't always about being a " pretty singer" like the tone of a Joni Mitchell's voice, or a Linda Ronstadt.or even a Paul McCartney. A singer IMO has to deliver the melody and put it across in a pleasing way and Mick certainly does this. Think about the delivery of WILD HORSES, or RUBY TUESDAY or LET IT LOOSE!

Tell these people that they can think what they want to, but rock performers today have less of a range than what mick originally started out with in the 60's and he still has more now than what these people got.

hip hop has no real singers just a lot of screamers and vocal gymnastics. those people have no idea about creating a memorable lyric or melody to save their life.

grunge and hard rock is gravelly throat yelling at the top of their lungs.

tell your friends when they can sell out a stadium and sell a 10's of millions of records then they can qualify to be music critics.

On the other hand, Barbra Streisand and Mariah Carey can sing like canaries, but who gives a rat's ass? I'd rather have a Ace Hardware root canal and a double bypass without anesthesia than sit through one of their concerts.
