Wow. What a find. Thanks for posting. Not sure I've ever heard Charlie talking so much. Introspective young lad.

That was really good to watch, thanks wellalright!

It's nice to see Charlie actually speak his thoughts very an extended time rather than short comments that he does nowadays (tired from all the media I suppose).

It would be so nice to read an extended print interview with Charlie from a journalist he would trust or have something in common with. Someone who could understand Charlie's interests. I find his view of things to be quite interesting and different from other people's insights.

Do you think it''s changed the way you look at people?
"No, I think it's changed the way people look at me."

Great piece.
Thanks for posting that.

W O W. This is incredible. Charlie's a wise man, he sees right through various illusions of success and fame. The only thing I would not agree with is he ain't right saying mass media is "not" sinister.

Cheers,

Great find, I'm assuming it's this one:

Late May or early June, 1966
The Old Brewery (The Watts’ home), Lewes, Sussex: CW colour TV
interview probably by Peter Whitehead

"As we say in England, it can get a bit trainspottery"

09/10/06:

This new DVD includes a 76 min.-documentary from 2005 about Brian Jones. It includes lots of well-known footage from the 60's, but also a new
Bill Wyman-interview and in the bonus section a rare and unseen 17-minute Charlie Watts-interview in colour from 1966. Available here.
DVD by Richard Driscoll "Brian Jones & Les Rolling Stones" (dts FI314272, France)

It's footage you can find on the dvd Brian Jones & Les Rolling Stones" I bought in 2006. It's a bonus feature, as is some 1965 colour live (silent) footage of the Stones I never seen anywhere else.

And I bought this dvd for 9 euro's, so watch out for the expensive ones on ebay.

I like to hear Charlie's thoughts about things. He is the most grounded of all. He deserves knighthood. He is a true gentleman and an honorable person. Charlie's good every day and every night. Someone get him nominated for knighthood.

So straightforward and thoughtful. No calculated or mean spirited remarks. Credit Charlie Watts for keeping the Stones going.

One thing though- Charlie has very nicely grown out fingernails, always has.

Well I would say nominate him.........below How to nominate...and below that ...ask yourself the following questions before you nominate

Before you make your nomination, ask yourself the following questions. Has your nominee:

* made a difference to their community or field of work?
* brought distinction to British life and enhanced its reputation?
* exemplified the best sustained and selfless voluntary service?
* demonstrated innovation and entrepreneurship?
* carried the respect of their peers?
* changed things, with an emphasis on achievement?
* improved the lot of those less able to help themselves?
* displayed moral courage and vision in making and delivering tough choices?

An example is Andrew Lloyd-Webber,the prolific and award-winning writer-composer of successful musicals Evita,The Phantom of the Opera,Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar.
People who earn hundreds of millions of dollars for charities are some who have earned knighthoods.
Another extreme example is perhaps the greatest actor of not only his generation, but this one as well,Laurence Olivier. He changed the way Shakespeare was performed, founded his own theater, taught, directed, won multiple awards for his achievements.Olivier was not only knighted, but given a peerage title as well.

Hey Charlie is a very accomplished drummer,a true gentleman with an artist sensibility .. probably more than we know..

yet I think he might find the idea of knighthood strange in general and especially not for him..

Really doubt he'd be interested ..

Charlie would probably think it was ridiculous.

"Wadduv I done? I'm just a bloody drummer....that's more Mick's crowd anyway."

Not sure what Mick has done to fulfill following criteria:

* exemplified the best sustained and selfless voluntary service?

Yes he's probably helped his friends quite a bit, did some stuff with Bianca but I can't think of much else.

* improved the lot of those less able to help themselves

Well, Lucky Dip tickets come to mind but what else has he done for the downtrodden?

* displayed moral courage and vision in making and delivering tough choices?

Hmm No Mick Taylor this tour? Total fail. winking smiley

I guess if you're strong enough in the other criteria it's good enough.

peace

Great find.
Were any of the others interviewed around the same period?
Was it intended to be part of a Stones documentary?
