"Criss Cross Man / Mind / Save Me" is technically not an unreleased song.

It was released on the soundtrack of some Japanese film from the '70's.

It's not called "Criss Cross Man " or "Criss Cross Mind" or "Save Me" (except for on bootlegs).

The official title of the song is just "Criss Cross".

Where did you pick this "official" title?
I don't think a Metamorphoses/Winds Of Change soundtrack LP has been issued at the time.

I didn't pick the title. I had nothing to do with it. The soundtrack was on Eil.com years ago. I did not purchase it. Possibly it could have been fake but,I don't believe that it was. It seems more solid than conflicting bootleg song titles.

Maybe that's accurate but, according to them, the soundtrack only included 5 songs. That seems questionable for 2 reasons. First,I believe that it is pretty well accepted that the song was in the film (the original version at least) and how many soundtracks include only 5 songs ??

Wikipedia claims that the original version of the movie is set to " Rock music by Joan Baez and Mick Jagger " . That is also strange because,I have never heard of any Mick Jagger solo music rumored as having been recorded for that film. He didn't have very much solo material at all at that point in time.

The only way to know for sure would be for someone to track down the soundtrack and the film (probably the original version). You would figure that the song titles would appear in the closing credits.

That official title ("Crisscross" ) was reported in "Rolling Stone" magazine in 1973 in an article on the then-forthcoming release of GHS. It was one of the 10 song titles reported to be on the album (another was "Through The Lonely Hours" -- presumably later changed by the band). "Coming Down Again" and "Winter" were *not* on the list. I'll try to locate it online.

Huge mistake!
It is a shame you didn't at least note the catalogue number either...

Maybe, the tracks names are often wrong even on the "official" acetates...
The only way to be sure is the closing credits at the end of the movie.

It looks as though there is enough evidence to rule out "Criss Cross Mind" , " Save Me " , and (obviously) "Criss Cross Man" as titles of the song. It's good enough for me,in any event. There is really absolutely nothing out there that I know of,as it relates to solid evidence,to support any of the other 3 song titles made up for bootleg releases.

Acetates are not a good reference for track titles:

Obviously not 100% which is apparent by looking at the "Hundred Years" acetate but ......... it is also apparent that sometimes they are the correct titles.

Then consider that,in the case of the song in question, there is nothing solid which contradicts the title on the acetate. At least there is not anything solid that I am aware of.
