In an ESQUIRE profile of Mick by Jay McInerney when Mick was recording She's the Boss, Mick and Nile Rodgers and a couple others had a slacker moment when they delayed recording to lay back in the studio lounge to...watch an episode of STAR TREK.

He was . . . fascinating . . .

Thank you for posting that, camper88 - that's very sweet and charming
(though the coughing part was briefly scary, given that he died of COPD)
I even owned the album with that Bilbo Baggins song on it when I was little -
I was that seriously Spock-smitten.

Love and light to him, and thanks and praises.

Thanks Leonard for captivating my young imagination playing the cold green blooded logician. For a man supposed to be playing a creature with no emotion, his talent oozed emotion on the end of every line he delivered. And he was more than that... captivating on Colombo, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and many other great movie roles. You will be missed. You lived long and prospered.

Just heartbreaking. I loved Star Trek and still do.

The thing that I learned from Leonard Nimoy and his character Mr. Spock was to think logically and rationally. He changed my thinking from a irrational teenager to that of the beginnings of a responsible man. It was an epiphany moment for me.

RIP Leonard Nimoy, may you reach the final frontier.

Thank you for posting those, Schillid. Time.com misidentified the image from Star Trek the Movie -
they've got it as being from the third film (1984) but it's definitely from the first one (filmed mostly in 1978).

Love & light to Leonard Nimoy, and thanks & praises. It's good to see how well beloved he is.

This is so funny...I bet Mr. Nimoy would have loved it!

Bank of Canada urges ‘Star Trek’ fans to stop ‘Spocking’ their fivers

Bank of Canada is pleading with Star Trek fans to stop “Spocking” its five dollar bills. Since Leonard Nimoy’s death, Canadian folks have been “Spocking” the hell out of the five dollar bill that features a portrait of Canada’s seventh prime minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier.

Sir Wilfrid now sports, on certain bills at least, pointy ears, the signature Vulcan haircut and eyebrows and Spock’s mantra “Live long and prosper.”

According to Bank of Canada it’s not illegal to do this but:

“...However, there are important reasons why it should not be done. Writing on a bank note may interfere with the security features and reduces its lifespan. Markings on a note may also prevent it from being accepted in a transaction. Furthermore, the Bank of Canada feels that writing and markings on bank notes are inappropriate as they are a symbol of our country and a source of national pride.”

I say Spock the hell out of ‘em if it ain’t illegal. Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s face wasn’t that interesting, anyway. In fact, let’s just make this a permanent improvement to the Canadian five dollar bill.
