It's in the Village, NYC, I believe.
No, it's in an area called Union Plaza.
It's a little north of the Village, around 14th St.

Dear lord, I just watched Macca's SNL performance. I love the man and most of his music, but his voice is GONE! Watch it. When he begins singing Maybe I'm Amazed it is painful, embarrassing.

I wonder why he didn't opt for a less taxing number, since his voice was off on sick leave.
It seemed like an odd choice anyway to celebrate a comedy show, but with the audible strain in his voice
it came across as more harrowing than entertaining, as in "ohh that poor man, what pain he's in"
which I reckon isn't the effect he wanted. I hope not anyway.
His band is good but do they always go so way overboard with the dramatic postures?

Yes, he was having a hard time. I suspect and hope he's just having a temporary problem and unlike Mick with his cancellation in Australia, he's such a pro that he decided to do the show anyway. I saw him this summer and he had no such problems. Besides he sure puts a lot of heart and feeling into it, amazingly so.
Here is the performance with Keith's introduction:

How many songs each plays is meaningless. How long doe Macca play and how long does the Stones play.
And how many times does Paul sit at a stool and act like he is pouring tea? That's the most important stat.

Actually it is very meaningful. 39 Songs compared to 19 is two Stones shows but with different songs. At least with McCartney, the effort is there. The Stones have a vast catalog of short 2 to 3 minute numbers they could roll out themselves but refuse to satisfy their audience as a whole. That is sad.

His band is good but do they always go so way overboard with the dramatic postures?
It's less dramatic when they are playing huge venues, necessary some would say.
Mick is the king of dramatic postures, they're just taking cues from the greats.
That band is smokin'. peace

Yes, Mick is the king of dramatic postures, but that doesn't mean these guys are masters at it,
or that I have to like being distracted by a whole band of fellows each going all out with the overcooked drama
in ways that didn't really suit a small stage, or fit well with what was going on with the frontman.
I did note (above) that the band is good, but I still say Paul would've been better off
going with a "Plan B" song when he woke up to find his voice had gone south.
