Studying the Stones

Hey guys and gals... Happy new year to you all! Hope it's a good one for you and yours.

Did anybody else register for the Coursera course on the Stones?

I started it today. It's a study of the band from 62-74. It's all done through video tutorials and I quite enjoyed the first batch ofvideos today. It was mainly the formation of the band etc. There was a lot of focus on Andrew Loog Oldham too.
I'm sure you'll be pleased to read that there was a very generous and complimentary section paid to Stu. I thought that was great & the course teacher seems to really know his stuff.

Looking forward to continuing and hopefully graduating!

Anybody else on the course?

All the best

Ray x

For people who don't already have the link: Rolling Stones Online Course.

I just registered and poked around the online "classroom" -- missed the first class, but seems like it should be ok.

It looks great. So many people --from all over the world-- are taking it!

Why would anyone go undercover? Yall that famous? winking smiley

There's a discussion board, and ways for people to dialogue and connect re: the classes, etc. Seems pretty copacetic all around.

Maybe see some of you guys over there!

Anyone fork up the $49 for a certificate?

I paid $30 for the certificate but that's more a gift to my mum. She'll be glad that one of her kids has a qualification of some sort haha! (If I pass the damn thing!)

If you mean me: As a form of mild humour, maybe? Just guessing! :E

Can I borrow anyone's notes from first class?

I'm wondering if we could all meet for pizza later?

If that's humour, I'd describe it as exceptionally mild.

smiling smiley I can see that. Last night I noticed that once you're registered, the course provides the option to appear as Anonymous and was curious about that. I guess it's just an option that publicly known or not peeps might prefer.

I missed the first class but looking forward to the remaining 6!

Do you think the instructor noticed that I fell asleep watching the video today?

I'm taking the course.

I think it's especially very nice to see the UK vs. US discography controversy detailed and explained.

Very good for those who wants to study these kind of things.

Maybe Mick should be on it also - he might then remember enough stuff to write his autobiography. >grinning smiley<

Are you'all ready for the quiz tomorrow? We have a while to do it.

I'm hoping to pass it, may sign up for paid version after I take it, or not, if it's hard.

Covering the 60's shouldn't be too hard but the late 70's and most of the 80's are a bit of a blur to me.

All right, I'm counting on you then, mighty stork. You can rely on me for late 70s and the 80s, ha.
(Course only goes through 1974.) Most of the Eighties shouldn't be too hard, ha.

"Got It Live If You Want It"?? The lecturer should know better than that!
Especially since it's a play on the title of a Slim Harpo number that he sure should be aware of.

Last week's "Eric Burton" could've been some hapless typesetter's fault, but
the Department of Historical Accuracy may need to write a sharp note to this character :E
