You Got The Silver is one "kitchen door"-song. Midnight Rambler is another...

That's kinda wild - I never noticed that! I wonder which one latched onto "kitchen door" first--Mick or Keith?
Midnight Rambler was recorded, I think, slightly earlier than You Got the Silver, not that that necessarily means anything.

The same Glimmer Twin might have injected the kitchen door into both lyrics - that was a highly collaborative period.
I believe kitchen doors are (like loving cups) pretty common in blues lyrics
And doors of various kinds appear in quite a lot of Stones songs, don't they.

Not quite as common as back doors, but, yeah smiling smiley

I hope I've correctly worked out which part of my blahblahblah you were responding to, Dande dear!
Good point. Although it could be said that kitchen doors are often synonymous with back doors,
so maybe it's a question of how many syllables one needs in the lyric at hand.

Meanwhile, besides slipping in round the back in Losing My Touch, Keith mentions going round the back in Words of Wonder -
ahhh that dirty dirty man :E

You did smiling smiley

"The sun's gonna shine on my back door someday" is a well-used line in countless blues songs. That's what I had in mind here.

+ all the back door-men and women, of course smiling smiley

And when we're invited to come on into the singer's kitchen oh yeah because it is going to be raining outdoors
I think we can count that as one of those aforementioned implied doors, n'est-ce pas?

How many songs with "my cards are on the table", 4?

Ugh this is by far my least favoriute Jagger line of his newer songs. I keep hearing it.
Keith uses card playing as well

"I woke up this morning" is another one. And it's on Honest I Do. I know it was composed by Jimmy Reed, but the Stones have made a nice version of this song. cool smiley

Yes they sure did.
Waking up in the morning is another blues standard. One has to start somewhere! :E

I just remembered this:

Wake up in the morning there's a snap around the place
Wake up in the morning there's a crackle in your face
Wake up in the morning there's a pop that realy says
"Rice Crispies for you and you and you" cool smiley

Well now, for a real "stones by numbers" kind of song:

I'm so sick and tired of my friends
who come around and say
that the cards are on the table.
So, I'm gonna draw the line at my kitchen door.

You'll say, What's the matter with the boy?
It seems I've lost my touch,
So what are you gonna do about it?
I'm giving you a piece of my mind: it's alright.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Sort of similar, even in the phrasing:

"You've been starring in my dreams" from Miss You and
"I was dreaming last night" from Emotional Rescue.

From All About You:

I'm so sick and tired hanging around with dogs like you

From Following the River:

My cards are on the table, but the drinks have all run out

Good one, Mel! Short line, but truly the second one, as opposed to a couplet.

Look At Me is also in the lyrics to State of Shock - Michael Jackson/ Jagger duet, although I don't think Mick wrote the lyrics. Never did like that song.
