MMMBop by Hanson

It's a catchy song. When Hanson came to Melbourne they made an appearance at a local shopping centre, my then 14 year old daughter was smitten by them so I took her to see them.
Unfortunately they performed in the lower level car park, so, surrounded by screaming teenyboppers in a concrete cavern we couldn't hear a note they sang above the high pitched squeals.
My ears hurt so much I thought they'd bleed.

Brother Taylor sings with soul. Probably the best teen oriented band in some time.

For the most part, I have no qualms or apologies for what is in my collection. However, a couple that I have downloaded "just because I like 'em" would be:
"The Rainbow Connection" from the Muppet Movie
"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Peace,
Mr DJA

Mr DJA!

You are on report! "Rainbow connection" is a classic! OK end of exclamation usage...cool smiley

For a bit of fun one nite I sang (with my band) "Rainbow connection" at the end of a three hour gig in a pretty rough place. We had the crowd conned into thinking we were great by midnite and a couple hundred beers each so did it for a laugh. They went nuts (no exclamation mark as promised that was it but imagine one there anyway).
All these hardboiled roughnecks were singing along and looking for the first times in their respective lives that they didn't want to knife somebody just because they didn't compliment the shine of their freshly cleaned Harley.

Ok so I'll shut up now smoking smiley

The only song I'm funny about liking and admitting to for the most part is that 80s track "Don't forget me when I'm gone". Dunno who does it. I also like "Streets of love". That doesn't count as a song to be embarrassed by though as it's the Stones.
So.
There.

Great story OZ... I may have to think of pulling that one out sometime. My band had a similar experience except we were absolutely struggling at a gig one night... We were a radio rock band booked into a country/bubba rock/biker bar. Throwing our best stuff at them only to be met with rousing rounds of indifference. That is, until we played... Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" and watched the place go NUTS. Never seen anything like it in my life... Looks can be deceiving sometimes!

Peace,
Mr DJA

Loving the fact that props are being given to both Air Supply & The Hollies. Both were huge influences to me when I was younger yet I had never bothered to replace the original cassettes w/ digital versions until last year. My wife shot me a questioning look when I told her what I was buying BUT, surprise, surprise, she sings along with just about every word to every song when they come up in rotation on the shuffle feature. I don't think I'd buy tickets to see either act live but I still love their music with NO GUILT!

Peace,
Mr DJA

Just the tip of the iceberg....

Baby Come Back - Player
How Deep Is Your Love - The Bee Gees
True - Spandau Ballet
Reminiscing - Little River Band
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
Don't Give Up On Us - David Soul

The first four on this list are great, GREAT songs! ANd I would add almost anything by.....Air Supply. Nice catchy tunes

Haha thanks...not really embarrassed, but to say I "love" them might be stretching it a bit. I suppose they are guilty pleasures.
As for Air Supply, thanks but no thanks - I have to draw the line somewhere!

But to "rock" up my list a tad I might add Saturday Night by the Bay City Rollers.drinking smiley

And then there's this wonderful upbeat ditty from 1987:

I'm not embarrassed by anything.
I even own and like Right Said Freds first album.
Milli Vanilli, Roxette, Rick Astley: love it. Especially Roxette, Per Gessle is a terrific songwriter.
More currently: Taylor Swift...great stuff.

How can you be ashamed of liking Abba, Bee Gees or Queen songs? Top bands.

I agree Superstar is brilliant. When she sings "Oh baby, baby, baby, baby, oh baby" that is a great moment in pop music

I have a Partridge Family greatest hits CD that I know all the words to every song to.

I Think I Love You! Heard this last month in the car and was surprised I too knew all the words

While I like that track, I'm even more embarrassed to say I prefer some of their 'deeper cuts'.
