Nothing beats this one. This drive and groove was never replicated ever, imo.

Any time they have played it fits perfectly.....there is no bad version when played by them (even when played by my band)

As much as I want to vote for the girl in the first video, I have to go with DP and vote for the promo version. I just can't trust a physical trainer who surgically enhances themselves.

Peace,
Mr DJA

You haven't heard it live since, hell, it hasn't been played live worth a shit since 1969.

Let's not overthink this one: The original studio version is absolute perfection, one of the best things they ever did, and one of the best single rock 'n' roll tracks ever recorded.

Often the original studioversion of a song tend to be the best (as with "satisfaction" imo). And I also like the studioversion of jumping Jack. But, the version from Rock and Roll Circus is one of the best imo.

Jumping Jack Flash is better live than in the studio version.

The 1975 to 1982 live vesions were not that great but, otherwise,it seems to be one of the best stadium / arena / club / theater rock and roll songs ever.

The studio version is great but, live in concert, they have taken it to another level.

The late '60's and early '70's versions were great but so were most of the 1997 to 2003 versions and some recent performances from the past decade as well ..... although generally not up to the '97 to '03 standard.

I always like it when they start the show with JJF. Sets the bar high. Also, that usually means its less jammy but more intense.smoking smiley

The studio version is excellent but I do prefer the way they played it on the 1969 tour more, perhaps because it's a bit more funky and Mick doesn't do the long drawn out choruses (he would also improve on Honky Tonk Women a few years later like that). Unfortunately Jagger ruined the version on GYYYO! by overdubbing the vocals to sound more like the studio version. He's such a twat bag like that.

Ever since, to my ears anyway, they've plowed through it, with the versions since 1972 being too fast, Mick just shit-grunting or screaming through the lyrics, and then later on getting way too slick, one dimensional and too long (1989 for example) ie borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring when used as an encore.

Agree that the way they play it as an encore nowadays may be a bit boring/ to long. It is better as an opener. Like in Oslo this year. The first chords from keiths guitar was so loud and right in my face and made my ears bleed for weeks. But I like it.. cool smiley

I was going to mention when it's used as an opener it's "better", like the 1999 tours, but it's still a bit... off. It's just weird how some songs they play so wonky over the years.
