ah, just found this.
still cant get into the snare & guitar sounds.
orrible
great harmonica

I never loved this song -- always thought I'd like it better if Keith were singing. Thanks
for posting this. It's so clearly a Keith effort.

I liked it when it came out. I actually picked up a girl while both of us were coming off a plane by handing her a note with some of the lyrics on it (that's a whole other story all together) but I never thought it was geat live. I always thought Mick never knew how to sing it and could never get the tone of is voice right. Also, as I got older, I realized the lyrics are just awful (didn't think that when I was in my early 20's picking up that girl) but I saw an MTV show perhaps about the voodoo lounge tour (must be on you tube somewhere) and Mick admitted that he wrote most of the lyric to Love is Strong right before recording the first take. I know Mick always downplays that sort of thing but I just got the feeling he didn't put to much thought or effort into the lyric on this one. Always loved Keith's riff . . . A lot of college friends at the time used to make fun of it and say the stones were trying way to hard to be the stones. Oh well

I always liked the song, sometimes use the title as a sig,
and I was knocked out by the video when I first saw it.

~"Love is Strong"~

Any early/alt versions of this that are better?

The Clearmountain remix is better than the LP mix.

When I saw the great Halloween Voodoo Lounge Shows in 94, the crowd was sitting down for a badass version of All Down the Line, but then lept to its feet for Love is Strong. This song would be damn welcome on Exile or Sticky Fingers. Nice Harp Work MJ.

Never liked it. It has always sounded like an outtake to me. It sounds half-finished, like they ran out of ideas halfway. Bad guitar sound, awful snare sound.

"Love Is Strong" has much of the same role for me, I think, that "Start Me Up" has got for many others.

For me with my Stones roots in a more distant past, "Love Is Strong" is then emotionally strong, meaningful and moving, whereas "Start Me Up" to me functions superficially catchy only, but does not at all deeply move.

I got hooked with Rolling Stones since 1982 more or less.......since then, the only single and album that i felt as something special and enjoyable is VL and the single Love is Strong. During that summer i felt very happy being a RS fan.An i felt superior in the great Vigo concert.
Last album that i enjoyed a lot was ABB, but i got very dissapointed with the Barcelona concert (2007??) i went to

Since its Halloween, I had to pull out the old Voodoo Lounge Halloweek T Shirt and post it on my blog.
Love Is Strong was FANTASTIC live during those shows!!!!

I've been writing so-called Rock N Roll poetry lately.
Feeling old and rather nostalgic...but realizing how great my memories are of the Stones shows.

I think Mick's harmonica goes a long way towards making that track so good.

The combination of Mick's harp, Keith's guitars and Mick's dark voice is a winner, imo.

Have always loved how Keith clammed Love Is Strong in the first verse.

Really liked it when it first came out...now it's only just ok for me.

Hasn't really stood the test of time.

You're the minority here fellow

How well we treat our minorities is a true test of how we've evolved as a society. Just sayin'....

Are you sure you're just sayin'? Because... I mean, you said it.

I saw them twice on the VL tour and both times Love Is Strong was awful. It doesn't work well live.
