Your Positive Thoughts About the Rolling Stones
Posted by: stonesrule ()

No negatives...ONLY positives!

Off the top of my head, I believe that Mick Jagger is the best "frontman" on stage in popular music today.

I believe that the Stones live were the best band in the world when the lineup was Keith, Charlie, Bill, Mick Taylor, Ian Stewart and Jagger.

I believe that Midnight Rambler is a fabulous song.

I believe that Mick Jagger has always been the best "frontman" on stage in popular music. (with Ian Dury, a very close second and would have given Mick a right run for his money if he hadn't had polio, then Freddie Mercury 3rd, fantastically camp but a serious man too)

I believe that the Stones live were always the best band in the world and still are. All the lineups always trumped everyone else, the exception being Ian Dury & the Blockheads, just second, not skill and atmosphere wise but because Ian was ill, the shows were short ...........both @#$%& fantastic.....

I believe that Out of control is a fabulous song, especially live and long......

Positive enough?.................sincerely..........

I don't know about anyone else here, but I find that when I'm feeling blue, Stones music, especially when played loud, is the best medicine.

Laughter is, contrary to popular belief, #2.

Also the lineup that included Brian Jones (at least up to about 1966). Just in keeping with positive tone of this thread.

They're still hanging in there. There are still live concerts to look forward to or complain about. There are more re-issues to come and the old, great records won't go away.

The positive vibes they put out kept Russia and America from launching nuclear missiles by computer glitch-mistake during the Cold War. Most particularly Mick Taylors immortal solos resounding through the cosmos

1) If it wasn't for the Stones, I would never have known the following cities:

Philadelphia
Little Rock
Toronto
Madison, Wisc
E. Lansing, Mich
Chicago
Akron, Oh
Pittsburgh
Charlottesville, Va
Durham

Which left me with a lifetime of unique, pleasurable memories that transcended the concert experience itself such as:

2) crossing back into the USA from Canada the following exchange took place:

Border Security: what were you doing in Canada?
Me: went to 2 Rolling Stones concerts.
Border Security: how were the concerts?
Me: GREAT!
Border Security: to you have any pot on you?
Me: no, smoked it all at the concerts.
Border Security: go on thru.

I grew up obsessed with the Beatles. I'm one of those that could have given you the lineup for each album, etc., off the top of my head. But as an adult I rarely listen to the Beatles, and I always listen to the Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones are the most important band ever and without them we wouldn't have all the great bands who followed that were influenced. Most of the music I dig you can trace it back to The Rolling Stones influence.

The Rolling Stones' last truly inventive and creative LP was UNDERCOVER and their last meaningful hits compilation was REWIND.

1962-1984
