The one that comes to my mind immediately is/was the band Big Country, who had a minor hit with their song 'Big Country.' Not that it's a favorite, just the only one I'm familiar with (the song is ok, though).

I'm no expert on Scotland's pop/rock music scene beyond the fact Glasgow was a center...

Can I claim AC/DC?
I remember reading an interview Keith gave to a Scottish paper a few years back, and it was headed "Rolling stones are a Scottish band". I think it was in the Sunday mail. Keef was clearly playing to the papers limited readership. Anyway, his assertion for Stones Scottishness was down to Stu. makes you wonder what he says to provincial newspapers when he is in Uganda or somewhere. Anyway, in less than 12 hrs we may be totally provincial here in Scotland!

Keith, when interviewed by Musician Magazine when promoting UNDERCOVER, listened to hit songs the interviewer literally played Keith on a stereo:

In a Big Country by BIG COUNTRY (Keith's quote): "A bit studied, a little too self-conscious. But there are some nice sounds on there. Seven." (out of ten.)

Not forgetting Stone The Crows with Scotland's own Janis, Maggie Bell.

A superb band. Saw them supporting The Who at Charlton in 76. They were unbelievably good.

Rod Stewart (?)

Well, sort of...

Born in Highgate, North London, on 10th January 1945. Rod's father Robert Joseph Stewart came from King's Port in Edinburgh, Scotland. Rod's mother, Elsie, came from Upper Holloway, North London.

I'm not sure if the Scots, or anyone else for that matter, have ever forgiven him for this though.

I don't think the Offspring are Scottish, are they?

Maybe they could become honorary Scotsmen, at least for today?
