For me, it's probably Undercover.

There's a few of them, actually!
I think IORR. That's their least-talked-about record.
It's pretty much gotten lost in the shuffle.
The more interesting question is, what is Led Zeppelin's?
Will that get me banned?

I have a feeling that Undercover will win when we tally it up.

Definitely Goast Head Soup. The sound of Undercover has not aged well.

Why not? Pretty Beat Up, Tie You Up and All The Way Down are just as timeless sound-wise as Dancing With Mr. D, 100 Years Ago and Angie.

The fact that three singles and one dub song is tweaked a little production-wise shouldn't ruin anyone's listening experience for the entire album?

The clavinet and the triangles on GHS are just as dated as the mini-synths and the percussion on Undercover, imo.

I think Undercover gets praised quite enough. It's a great album, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't call it "underrated". I think most underrated goes to Black and Blue. Only weak song on that album in my opinion is Cherry Oh Baby.

Black & Blue has many really good songs on it and so has Tattoo You and both albums appear to be under rated by Stones fans.

Vastly inferior albums are Between the Buttons ( only Yesterdays Papers,Backstreet Girl & Miss Amanda Jones ),also HMRR's where only She's a Rainbow,2000 light years from Home & 2000 Man were worthy of release.
The worst sounding album is Undercover which did not sound right at the time of release and when I try to listen to it again the sound immediately grates so much that I just cannot stand it and forced to remove it from my CD player.
The Stones worst album is Dirty Work where the songs / arrangements smart of people doing their own thing rather than working together.

I Think the most underrated overall in the media must be a toss up between ER and Undercover. In this board it's DW.

I have to say this. I immeciately thought of the early albums; mainly because their existence is largely ignored here on IORR.
First album is brilliant. And 'Buttons" too. Underrrated though

Dirty Work. Take out the middle four tracks, and you've got a pretty good EP.

Close second: the UK Aftermath, at least in the States because it wasn't released here until 2002.

Black n blue.

I wanna say IORR but the mix is not underrated on that one, the songs though. So, B&B followed by IORR.

Dirty Work and Undercover are both bad albums. Undercover has a couple of good songs.

B&B has always been underrated, by fans and in reviews. IORR has lots of good songs but suffers partly to bad mixing.

One Hit to the Body beats anything on Undercover.

...There's 4, imo:
(in order of "underratingness" )

A Bigger Bang
It's Only Rock'n'Roll
Black and Blue
Voodoo Lounge

Really? Connection, All Sold Out, Who's Been Sleeping Here, She Smiled Sweetly, Something Happened To Me Yesterday, Citadel, The Lantern and In Another Land weren't worthy of release??

True that the first couple of records are not much discussed here at IORR. Wheras many supposedly 'underrated' latter-day albums, such as UNDERCOVER, A BIGGER BANG, GOAT'S HEAD SOUP, BLACK AND BLUE, etc seem to get own and popular threads every two months or so. Sometimes it feels like the Stones did nothing prior controversial SATANIC MAJESTIES..

But then again, when the songs from early era are talked individually - for example, Rene's Talks - they get a lot of appraisal and interest. Probably the form of early albums, their double existence etc. makes them a bit odd topics.

Gotta be black and blue followed closely by goats head soup. Black and Blue I loved straight away and never understood why nobody liked it as much as I did.
GHS slowly has grown on me.
