That's my favorite Paul Simon era. All that stuff is great and takes me back to my childhood.
treacle..,
Mother and Child Reunion is my favorite solo Simon ever.
Question: what the hell is it about?

It's about death. The mother and child reunion is a metaphor for heaven. Could be wrong, but that's what I've always thought.

I remember reading an interview in which Paul said he got the idea when he was in a chinese restaurant that had a dish on the menu called "Mother and Child Reunion." It was chicken and eggs.

Love your story Treacle! It's why I enjoy timeless songs ever so often
Especially the kind that you almost automatically want to sing along with.
If I may say so, I do a fairly OK job on "All Down the Line."
I used to spend a fair amount of time in the studio with Stevie Wonder and he
was always telling me, "Anyone can sing!" He put me on the spot and told me to
sing a back-up vocal. Talk about humiliating! I croaked my way through six takes and then suddenly...my nerves went away and for almost a minute I sounded great.
Sadly, this song was never released...I missed my minute of fame. Stevie has several hundred songs in the vault that have never been released. "Mine" is one of them.

He was never the same once they spilt. He may have been more talented, but without Art he was just missing something.
