Stones Press conferences...

...are always fun to listen to, but to journalists it must be a nightmare.

And there´s a roll to every Stone:

Mick is always good at repartee and funny, but always has the business
in mind and gives some information.

Keith always tries to be funny. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Don´t try to get valid information from him.

Ronnie is always good for a joke. ("Fight plaque not Iraq!" )

Charlie hates it and waits for his "Yes!" moment.

It´s just for getting the hype started. Anyway, here are some:

1969

the travel period...
1989 by train:

1994 via ship

1995 Europe/Australia

1997 by car

2002 via zeppelin:

2005:
Cohl about playing live at Juillard:
"We´ve beaten that travel thing to death"

2006 (for Europe) via satellite feed:

Which one do you like the most?

...and no 2012/2013 Press-Conference...

Perhaps the most exciting was 1975 which I listened to live on the radio

The snippet between 1:23 and 2:57 on the Juilliard PC clip is a favorite of mine. A new song (ONNYA) that really rocks. At least there and then. Especially Keith. That coconut tree fall later on did no good at all...

REgardless of whether they continue to tour for several more years (they will), I think it's pretty clear we've seen the last of these organized press conferences/tour announcements.

With the advent of the interwebs, it's all social media and website announcements.

Gonna (already do) miss 'em..

One thing they have always been very good at is press conferences to tout a new tour. Very creative things they have done.

Poor Mick. He said the STEEL WHEELS tour was opening in Buffalo.

Ronnie was hilarious as ever, so dominating, such a tough guy with the pointing while announcing Matt Clifford and Chuck Leveall being on the tour. Of course his best ever line was 'This is what you call a sample.' when Mick blasted Mixed Emotions through the PA.

Mick "There's no twenty bucks in a club."

Bill just... standing there...

Looks to me as if Bill had prepared a speech and then freezes - or Mick simply takes over?

I'm looking for the press conference with Mick in Paris presenting "At the Max". I think it was in Parc de la Vilette and it was filmed.

Found some details at Zentgraf's site:
28th October 1991: Paris, France, La Geode. Press conference by MJ (discussing ‘At The Max’-movie)

Any videos known?

Re: Stones Press conferences...

the 1981 tour announcement was made at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, ironically the Stones were set to play there in 1989 but it was condemed shortly after it was booked. The tour schedule was re-shuffled and instead of Buffalo getting opening night the Stones started earlier than expected at Philly's Veteren's Stadium.
Living in Philly I was excited to see the Stones for the first time in 1989 and to see the inside of JFK. I did see the Stones the second night (sans my favorite song "Shattered") but I never did get into to see JFK.

I remember Mick recorded a short message on Philly's WMMR to assure the fan base the Stones are coming...it was something to effect we are coming and the Eagles will still play.......
