<<Don't think synths were available yet in '67.>>

They were--the Doors used one on their second album (Strange Days) recorded that year, and are considered the first in rock to feature the use of one ina studio recording. The Monkees also incorporated one that year. And, according to the Moog Foundation, some obscure band called The Rolling Stones on an album known as Their Satanic Majesties Request: [moogfoundation.org]

Mick's moog. But he barely used it, and I have never heard about Bill using it for recording.

BTW, Keith plays bass on She Smiled Sweetly.

No Brian on bass on any recording, as far as known...

Listen to the basic takes of 2000 Light Years on the Satanic Sessions box, and you´ll find that Keith plays electric guitar and Bill bass (Brian on mellotron).
Then compare to the released track - it´s Bill on bass!

Wikipedia is not to be trusted as being 100% correct.

I understand he played bass on a studio version of UMT, Obviously, he couldn't play it live.

grinning smiley

you mean in 1981?

Meaning I don't know what I'm talking about. I'll shut up now.

No don't!

If we limit the discussion to people knowing what they're talking about we'll only have 3 threads and 5 people posting.

FYI

In mid 1960's Brian was given a custom made bass by Vox. A strange looking instrument which lacked any controls. It looks similar to this...
