Am I correct in wiener schnitzel is veal and schnitzel wiener art is pork?

Derived from Wikipedia:

"Wiener Schnitzel" must be made of veal. A Schnitzel made of pork can be called "Schnitzel Wiener Art" (Viennese style schnitzel) or "Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein" (Viennese schnitzel from pork).

Colloquial in german: 'Schweineschnitzel' = pork, 'Kalbsschnitzel' = veal. Ask simply the waiter before ordering the dish .....

When you're in Berlin:
Go to the Rixdorfer Brauhaus.

They have a delicious Biergarten and excellent Eisbein, a Prussian delicacy of the best porc meat you can get.
Way way way better then Curry 36's Curry-wurst.

shattered1978, is this the place?

I don't drink, but I do want to try absinthe, during my trip. Is it still worth going there, just for the food?

According to wiki you have eisbein (boiled?) and in some parts of Germany, schweinshaxe(grilled?). Basically the same, except one is boiled and the other grilled? Is schweinshaxe common in Berlin? I'd rather try it grilled, than boiled.

'Eisbein mit Sauerkraut' (or with Erbspüree in Berlin) would be of course another possibility for a german dish.

Eisbein (only boiled) is typical for Berlin and Schweinshaxe (fried/grilled) is typical for Bavaria and Austria.

Btw: best meat from pork is fillet ... and the [www.brauhaus-rixdorf.de] is approx. 15 km / 9.5 miles (beeline) away from the Olympic Stadium / Waldbühne.

Yes, that's the one.
Eisbein may change your mind about boiled meat. But be aware, it's the porc's foot. Cut away the fat (some eat that as well, i skip it).

For absynthe, you may try the great and alternative coctail bar "Jansen Bar": [www.jansenbar.de] in Berlin-Schoneberg, and is a bit closer to Waldbuhne than Rixdorf. Great cocktails for great prices.

Both locations are in true old, and green parts of Berlin, a bit off from the tourist sites.

Berlin has no true "city centre" but lots of great and very diverse places and centres spread throughout the parts of the city. The Waldbuehne/Olympiastadion are a bit outside of the action anyway.

For Absinth check this wicked cool bar winking smiley

the air inside gets filtered through industial clean room filters and they also offer pure oxygen at the bar.

Eisbein, in sunny June? you might want to re-think that.

Do you guys like absinthe? A black liquorice/anise flavor, right? Just a heavy drunk, all the other stuff are myths?

Me, I am happy with beer.
If you want absinth, you don't need to travel.... Order it online, on this ditch site for example: [www.drankgigant.nl]

Thanks, but I'm just curious to try it. I won't even finish the drink I order, let alone a bottle.

Decided to go out and get a lower for Aerosmith the night before.

Aerosmith play Berlin the night before The Stones (9th) and their next concert is in Poland on the 12th. I think it is very likely that they might be there in front of the stage with us. Or maybe a guest appearence?

Sounds like a good time. Undecided what to do, I keep going back and forth on this one.

Edit:
Anyone ever stay at the EastSeven Berlin Hostel? I have a room booked Das Stue for the concert night. Need a place for the other nights. I want to try some hostels, on my trip.

Your hotel is located in the famous Tiergarten-Park (LoveParade!) and if you go left out of the Stue you will find the fantastic "Café am Neuen See" - a great large total berlin hip-beer garden with excellent food, very beautiful people.

Hello,
Does anybody know were exactly the lucky dip tickets can be picked up?
Rules say "at the venue box office" but I did not find any information through the pages of the venue website (http://www.waldbuehne-berlin.de/)
Sounds like it is mixed with the Olympia Stadium?
See U there

Maybe a inquiry to the promoter (DEAG Deutsche Entertainment AG) helps: info@deag.de .
