Why is a Faces reunion dependent on the Stones retiring?!Is Stewart going to sign a stat. dec. that he's never going to perform another solo gig for the rest of his life?!

It's not. Rod told Howard Stern he's waiting for a "window of opportunity" - i.e. no Stones album/tour plans in the foreseeable future.

Why don't The Faces do what Cream did and play 4-5 nights at Albert Hall?Surely that wouldn't require too much rehearsal?

Any band that hasn't played for that long needs major rehearsal--even if it's just for one night. (Look at the unrehearsed trainwreck that was Zep at Live Aid, for example.)

5 years (2007-2012) weren't enough? winking smiley

As DP said above, he had five years to take care of that.

The Faces even rehearsed together in late 2009 - and after a few days when all was going well, Rod split without informing the rest of the band of his plans. They didnt hear from him again for months (McLagan told me this himself)

2011 - Faces played some shows. Hucknall as singer, because Rod refused to play with them.

He's an absolute bullshitter.

I wonder what he really wants? He must regard the Faces as just a paranthesis in his career...

Apparently not for Rod.

Ronnie, Mac and Kenney soldiered on without him. Mick Hucknall had Rod's blessing.

2011 - Faces played some shows.

They also did shows with Mick Hucknall in 2010.

It's a bloody shame Rod wasn't there in 2010, although Mick did a good job:

Stewart only seems to bring up The Faces when he has a cd and/or tour to promote.

Also a shame that a "devastated" Rod was too ill to attend last year's Small Faces/Faces RRHOF induction. Hucknall filled in at the last minute.

Right, seems our Rodney is not so interested as he appears to be.
Full of blah blah blah .

Seems Rodney wants Money money, so he can shake hands on that with jagger.

It's actually Roderick. ;-)

seems like they will do this. Rod Stewart hasn't said he won't.

I love the Faces. Their songs are some of the funniest in rock and roll. and some of the most poignant..(Debris)

that band had great songs and their albums sounded awesome (Glyn Johns?)

I hope they go on a little late-life-run again.

Rod will never rejoin them for sure!
As Mac told me once, Rod's just talking just about a Faces reunion to promote his own name and stuff.

Keep on rollin'

My favorite thing about Rod the Knob and his crap about Ronnie devoting himself full time to the Faces is that he acts like if Ronnie does that, he will do the same. When Rod puts aside his solo career for the Faces, I'll go and see the Stones with Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor doing an entire tribute show to Ian Stewart and Brian Jones.

The Faces needed Rod, he didn't need them. The same is true now. Faces records sold poorly compared to Rod's and he was successful for 5 years with them and nearly 40 without them. If they ever get back together it will be when Rod is ready.

I'd love to see them together but I can't see that RS has any obligation to do so.

Rod won't climb down off his wallet or his ego..as Ron has indicated, Rod has a worse case of lead singer syndrome than Mick and that's saying a mouthfull
..

Rod couldn't even bring himself to perform with the Faces at the Ronnie Lane tribute concert at the Albert Hall in 2004.

He absolutely does, without question. At least Mick was still able to make great music after he knew how amazing of a frontman he was. Rod Stewart found out how amazing he was, and then never released anything good again. What he does with mentioning the Faces every time he does it is one of the saddest things ever. And actually, its just downright mean.

Its been what, 40 years since the Faces broke up? The fact that Rod has NEVER gotten back together even for one song in that amount of time says leaps and bounds. Its never gonna happen, unless Rod becomes piss broke and is living on the street, which will unfortunately never happen. It would bring him back to reality. This guy has had like 10 shots to reunite with the Faces and he strings people along with each one and then cancels at the last minute. Its really most sad for the fans, because it could so easily be done and Rod is the only thing standing in the way. I'm glad they went on without him a few years ago. Rod is such an amazing singer, and its sad what a dick he became in 1978 through now.

I'd be happy to see the Faces live with Mick Hucknall. I think it sounded great on footage of the European dates they played. Shame it wasn't more of an ongoing concern. He's got the pipes, the work ethic, and the love for the Faces' music. Not sure if Roderick S. would have any of those nowadays.

No faces without Tetsu for me:

"He retired from the music industry in the mid 1990s and moved to the countryside with his family to live a quiet life, refusing to speak to anyone from the press. He considers it juvenile and vain for people his age to still be performing rock and roll, and refused invitations to take part in a Faces reunion."

grinning smiley Tetsu was cool, albeit a bit heavy on the sauce.

Nobody can come close to Ronnie Lane, though. A unique musician:

Great record, DP. I bought the vinyl when it came out (yes, I'm old).
