OK, I'm going out on a limb here, but unless this album is remixed (which I'm not advocating), is there a point in getting this version over the Virgin CD?

It's a different mastering from the Virgin CD and also you'll get the album in higher resolution.

Apparently not yet available in Europe : Universal Music store has it for October 21st.

What country are you in? It's not listed on Amazon in the U.S. I did find it on Amazon.UK for 17.82 British Pounds. But they list as currently available and released October 4th.

UK. Strange how its available from Amazon, when Universal Store states 4th November.

Hope its a good release anyway,

GRRR! on blu-ray was released last year.

Exile On Main Street blu-ray edition is set for October 29th on French Amazon : amazon.fr

Wouldn't it be great if Blu-Ray audio really took off...and purpose built Blu Ray audio players were an available system component.

Won't happen...but it's a nice thought in the absence of any other industry standard for HD music playback !

As usual with these blu ray audio reissues, no info on the master used. I guess it's the 2002 Bob Ludwig remaster...

And for some strange reason, none of these are available in the U.S. What the hell is going on?

I got Grrr on bluray. It's nice but I've not been able to hear if it sounds any better.
I might get these two too, as I gave up on getting the jap sa-cds. These blurays are significantly cheaper.

I have the Exile Blu-ray Audio - your guess is right: 9.6 GByte for the music file, all-in-all 10.1 GByte.

I've got the Exile pure audio bluray too...but to my old ears the Japanese SHM-SACD sounds better!

If you want to copy the blu-ray audio stream on your hard drive you'll probably need only the PCM stream. At 96kHz it makes about 1.4 GB for 10 tracks in WAV and about 800 GB if compressed to FLAC.

I was able to compare the Exile blu-ray and the Exile SHM-SACD from 2011. Both are absolutely the same. Which means they used the 2011 flat transfers from original master tapes to make the blu-ray. Hi-res doesn't make it all. Respectful mastering is important as well...

Apparently the release of the Let it Bleed bluray is delayed until March....
