Why is it hard to obtain this cd in the UK?

Re: No Security CD

For some reason it wasn't reissued when the Stones' catalogue went to Universal.

I did notice that on amazon, but I had my doubts that its a genuine copy, because if you scroll down that page there is one coming in at £60.

The reason was that the original release sold app. 900 to 1000 copies in the UK in the first couple of weeks after release - and most likely not too many more afterwards.

It was actually 1001.

And the reason for that was that they had oversaturated their market for live material. They already had Flashpoint out in '91 and Stripped out in '95, so there was a collective yawn from the record-buying public when they were presented with what was perceived as "yet another live Rolling Stones album", and one with the most unimpressive cover photo ever.

They look really excited to be there.... I wonder what they look like 15 years later....

Like all quality stones fans, I have a copy of this. I also have a couple of still sealed copies of the vinyl version...haven't checked what that one is worth in quite a while.

I've never owned a copy of NS, so I guess I'm of a lesser quality--but I'm a diamond in the rough as they say.

But just in case I want to upgrade my status of fandom, tell me one thing--the track Memory Motel from NS, does it have Dave Craphews on it?

If you're referring to Dave Gomphews, then yes, he's on it but a quality stones fan would have already known that.

Well, I'll be a monkey's gomper! I thought he was on it, and that's why I didn't buy it. I must have blocked it out of my conscious mind--it's a very traumatic blocked memory.

If you have it on CD, easy to program him off. If you rip to ITUNES, you can simply not even transfer it on there. NO one need even know you have a song with Gomp Mathews on it.

The 'No Security' album seems not to be very popular.

At Amazon Germany the 'No Security' album starts as used CD at £ 0.42 (34 offers for used CDs), the 'Live Licks' on the other hand starts much higher (approx. £ 6, only 4 offers for used CDs).

'Live Licks' (2004) seems to be more popular and there seems to be still demand for live material .....

Am I allowed to say that the Germans though made David Hasselhof a successful recording artist?

Do the math.

No Security did sell 18,000 copies in the UK between november 1998 and june 1999 and only charted at #67 there, the Brits were not happy at all with the Stones in 1998 after the tour cancelation by tax reasons and the press was very hard for the band.

It's actually a good live album. However, it's for the hard core fans only, with songs that never had been featured on live albums before/obscure numbers.

So no wonder it didn't sell.
