Does the app work outside the UK? Choice of live streams from all the important stages. Just been enjoying Tame Impala and the Vaccines.

watched all day using a proxy server. There are free and pay ones. I started with a free one but used up free amount pretty quick. Paid 4.99 for a month access, working like a charm. Just google free UK proxy server A good link here as well from a few years back. I'm not sure if it is not ok to post a link here? If not I'll delete

I read on the Dutch Stonesforum side that the BBC had anounced they will air The
Rolling Stones concert this evening on BBC2 at 10.30 (that's 11.30 for the European continent). Not clear how much of it will be shown.

The servers of the BBC check if you connect to them from inside the UK. A UK based proxy server makes it look like you are in the UK. Instead of connecting directly to the BBC server you set up your browser to connect to the proxy which then connects to the BBC servers. The BBC servers then think you are in the UK because they see the IP-Adress of the Proxy, not the one of your own machine.

I am no expert, but it is something like this...
When you are on the internet and go to a website, that website can look at your connection and read a number about your connection. Connection numbers look something like 101.11.23.45 or 131.34.23.12 or something like that, depending on where you are in the world. Those numbers basically tell a web site where your location is, not your street address, but your basic location.

Using a proxy server allows you to hide your real location. You log onto a proxy server, and then that proxy server logs on to the "target" website you want to go to, and the "target" website only see the proxy servers web numbers.

I guess this Stones streaming thing is only allowing connections from certain areas, so You need to connect to a "proxy server" with the "allowed numbers" and then that "proxy server" connnects to the "target".

Maybe someone else can explain it better.

As far as I am concerned.... So far I have never been motivated enough to need to use a proxy server, and if the Stones or whomever does not want to allow me a place where I can log on and see the show, fine. I really dont care enough to use a proxy thing. The show will surface eventually, and I will see it then. I certainly am not going to pay $5.00 or anything and then monkey around with trying to make the damn thing go. I hate that kind of nonsense, esp for low quality internet video. I wish, I really wish I could be there, but it is/was not to be. fk me.

It would be nice if it was shown on U.S. TV on Palladia channel in high def with great surround sound, but if they dont want to do that, make it easy, that is fine. I have seen plenty of internet quality video. I am ready for some high def, big sound. Hopefully this tour will be released soon.

Ok, good some other people answered while I was typing.
Maybe one of our explaination will makes sense.

Max, your explanation is really good. The only thing I want to add is that those "web numbers" are called IP-adresses since this is the term you will come across everywhere when trying to use a proxy.

And there are free proxys too.

Thank you for the compliment firebird, smileys with beer and for sure the more explainations/terms/stuff the better. I am resigned to not being able to see it, but I wish good luck to anyone trying to make it go.

The Glastonbury Festival time chart says:
Rolling Stones 9:30pm - 11:45pm
It seems like they are running by the clock.
Bill Wyman was on 6:30pm sharp last night, just as scheduled

Over here in Spain, I've got a 1.4 metre sat dish I installed few years ago.
That gets me all the UK freeview channels.
Talking about them moving to a new sat that will need an even bigger dish. confused smiley

BBC2 signed off their afternoon coverage with word that they'll be showing an hour of the Stones, starting @ 10:30 local time. Presumably pre-recorded rather than joined in progress.

Hopefully they'll show the start of Stones gig soon after 10.30pm or they won't get a really big audience.
More importantly, it's 11.30pm here in Spain and the later it's on the later I get to bed more ratarsed and wake up with a sore head. winking smileysmileys with beerwinking smiley
