"One Last Set Of Live Shows" (Tour Dates Coming Soon?)

50 years after their first gig, and rumours of one last tour from The Rolling Stones continue to circulate.

The band have not toured since their monstrous 2005-2007 A Bigger Bang world tour, which saw Keith Richards fall out of a coconut tree in Fiji, and the band earn an astonishing $558,255,524 - the second highest grossing tour of all time.

With the announcement of their 50-track, 50th anniversary greatest hits album, the rumour mill has once again started to turn with many wondering if the legendary Londoners have one last set of live shows in them.

Back in July Keith Richards told US music site Billboard.com that the band had begun rehearsing, but dates hadn't been fixed. "There's things in the works," he said. "It's definitely happening, but when I can't say yet."

Although there is still no confirmation from the band, the release of their greatest hits album - entitled GRRR! - on 12th November, would indicate that an announcement on any upcoming live shows would not be far round the corner. A little bird has told the Mirror Online that there is a strong chance of some dates being announced as early as next week.

Keyboardist/pianist and Stones collaborator Chuck Leavell told the Atlanta Music Scene blog last month that the Stones have been practising: "We had our first rehearsal in May. It was the first time we’d been in the same room together in five years. It was just fantastic," he said.

"They have not made any announcements, so there’s no official news to report. They [rumored Brooklyn dates] will remain rumors until the band confirms, but we recently had sessions in Paris and worked on two great songs. One, Keith [Richards] brought in called One More Shot. It’s really cool, great guitar riff. And Mick has one called Doom and Gloom. The song sounds a lot different than the title. The theme is that he’s talking to a girl saying all I hear from you is doom and gloom – let’s go party, let’s go dance. It’s an up-tempo tune. They’ll be on the 50th anniversary set coming in November," he added.

If tickets do become available, the first place to look will be the Mirror Tickets site.

Until then, take a look our 50 fascinating photos of the Stones taken by Mirror photographers over the years.
