Famous fans of the Stones in their own words

Stones have a lot of famous fans - from all fields of art, politics, business and sports.
And some of them do not hesitate to talk about their fanhood. I always find it interesting for some reason...
So I found this interview today with Benicio Del Toro- there is some serious die hard fan here

Benicio Del Toro on the Rolling Stones
GQ.com: What was on your playlist?
Benicio Del Toro: There's always Los Lobos, Alejandro Escovedo, the Clash and the Stones. Perhaps there was a little bit of that song "Soul Rebel" by Bob Marley. With the iPod now, you just create your own mix - it's usually for when I'm driving. I had Rolling Stones' Some Girls - which is amazing - and Creedence Clearwater Revival's Cosmo's Factory.

What, if push came to shove, is your favourite Stones' album?
I'm an Emotional Rescue kind of guy. I don't care what the critics say - I don't give a damn. I've seen them live many times. The first time was the Tattoo You tour, with the balloons and Mick Jagger in the football jersey. I remember one time I was driving here in London and I looked out of the window of the car and there was Charlie Watts. I just started to shake. It was like a vision of some sort. I rolled the window down but I didn't know what to say. I just said, "I'm a BIG F***IN' FAN! But YOU DON'T KNOW MAN! I can air drum your s***. 'Tumbling Dice', man!"

You can add George Clooney and Meryl Streep to the list.

Freida Pinto on Mick Jagger: "Anybody in my position would have been star stuck. I had to train myself to be calm and composed. I mean I never thought I will meet Mick Jagger.” When asked what was the conversation between her and Mick, Freida says, “I didn’t say anything, see this is the thing, I don’t know what to say. I just get very nervous and kind of retreat into my shell. I just said I love your music and that’s about it and I went.”

yeah, this list is almost endless - but it is interesting what exactly people say - what is the most essential part for them, what albums they prefer, image, clothes, etc ...

Ian Hunter talks Mott The Hoople

Mott The Hoople, “Walkin’ With A Mountain” (from 1970’s Mad Shadows)
IH: That was written in about five minutes. [Laughs.] It was! Because there were no fast songs on Mad Shadows. It was a very dismal affair. And we stood in Olympic Bar, and Guy said, “We need a rocker.” So I immediately launched into this two-chord thing which I thought was pretty obvious, and Guy was like, “Yeah, yeah, this is great!” So that was that. And [Mick] Jagger was next door with the Stones, and he popped in and started jumping about.

AVC: The oft-reported but unconfirmed story is that Jagger contributed backing vocals to the song.

IH: I can’t remember. But I know he came in, because I remember him dancing in the control room. Which was great for us, because he was huge and we were a little tiny band. It spurred us on to greater depths.

Oh, there is a similar story

"Eva Mendes has revealed she was left speechless when she met Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. The starstruck actress bumped into the 65-year-old in a hotel lift in France 4 years ago.
‘I literally collapsed when he got out a floor later,’ the 34-year says. ‘He's delicious, he still looks really good.’
And Eva says she was unable to play it cool when she was reunited with rocker Mick, who's a producer on her new film The Women.
'I thought: "He's never going to remember me," so I just say: "Hi, I'm Eva, nice to meet you," and he says: "Oh, I think we met in Paris."
‘I screamed: “Oh my God, you remember me?”,’ she tells You magazine. ‘The whole façade falls and I was a complete geek.’

that Steve Tyler quote that hbwriter stuck up a few days ago sums it ALL up

One of my shots before the interview yesterday - talking during the pictures I brought the Stones up - he said he's looking forward to the two new songs more than anything else this year. "It's the Stones, dude. You stop what you're doing when they do something.I'm just a Stones fan. Just big ole Stones fan."

Ian Gillan (Deep Purple)

Did any gigs you attended as a teenager leave a huge impression upon you?

Absolutely - I just spoke about this with a friend of mine the other day. Yeah, the Rolling Stones. Early, early Stones gigs. Chuck Berry recorded a track called "Come On" in 1961, and the Stones covered it in 1963. "Come On" became their first hit record, and I saw them perform the track live a couple of weeks beforehand at a concert in Hayes, West Middlesex. They just stood on a corner stage, and the place was just jammed. Roughly eighty to ninety people must've been in the room. People didn't demonstrate with their arms, or cheer loudly. In those days, the audience was a lot cooler, but the atmosphere was electric. I remember seeing Charlie (Watts, drums), who looks no different today. Bill (Wyman), meanwhile, held his bass guitar in a perpendicular position, and I thought that was due to the fact that he had no room upon the stage. The great thing about (Mick) Jagger was the impact: with his snake hips and all that type of thing, he looked very visual. Another great thing about Jagger was the man's harmonica playing, which was absolutely fantastic - in those days, everyone was particularly into harmonica. So yeah, that's one. I could give you a hundred others.
