Ah... their A sides were fun.. but the deal was that they got to do their own stuff on the B sides and it was usually great.
They were a proper rock band given a chance.
The A sides were pure Chin/Chapman pop factory (I liked them though) - the B sides were what they really sounded like.
Later they got production control and the A sides were theirs as well, and they were good.
Then Brian went to hell in a hand cart if I remember correctly.

That SNL skit is just like the gorilla cover (for some folks)...
I didnt get it, others did.. people said it was funny... I didnt ...
I didnt like it.... it wasnt funny.... then ... over time... one day
