It's just that last month I saw the documentary on Showtime about model Sara Ziff titled PICTURE ME. Her dad is a professor of neuroscience at NYU, and Sara's own mother said that when Sara was 21 she was making more money than her neuroscientist father. And her own mother expressed disgust that her daughter was making more money at 21 for "Being pretty and showing up on time." And I thought, "Her mother has a point."

A new documentary titled About Face: Supermodels Then and Now is running on HBO, and Jerry Hall is in it, her interview clips interspersed between other erstwhile supermodels' comments about their careers. It was interesting. (Although, listening to these women lament their fading looks and careers is sort of like hearing someone complain about no longer winning the lottery every day.)

being pretty gets you in the door. That's true for a whole host of professions...not just fashion... You still have to work in order to maintain, co habitate, excell....you just see the Kate Moss' or the Naomi's because they get the most press...but when those girls started they worked hard...they just made mega brands of their names and believe me that's the exception not the rule.
