Agreed - they did a killer version at the Orpheum show in 2002. Wasn't there but I have the boot. Pretty sure those are the only 2 live performances of it.

Parchute woman is close to my favorite Stones track, I would love to see it live. When the Stones announce a tour, it would be great if they would allow fans to request songs on their website.

The whole Orpheum gig was excellent - aprt from the heat - must have been over 100 degrees in that theatre.

worth the flight over from the UK for sure

The song is a trifle. It reads like an incomplete outtake. The fact that it is SO effective is a credit to the album's production; the straightforward, familiar chuga-chuga rhythm; and a confident, honest modesty. Somehow (like everything else on the album) it ends up being terrific.

Here you go...

I remixed it from the VGP release. It was a bit muddy and INCREDIBLY boomy around 80Hz. This is much more balanced but not finished. I am in the process (as a long-term hobby) of cleaning up my entire collection. Lots of VGP releases are thankfully presented to us unmodified, which makes them great candidates for restoration.

Love this track!

Just listening to a recording by AM Productions 080902

Great show - Parachute Woman - Nailed great live version.Anyway after letting the tapes roll - I discovered the best version I have heard of
'Heart Of Stone' live.

Fantastic !!!!

'The Band's on Stage and It's one of these Nights'

It might be their first truely evil, totatlly blues drenched song. It's a harrowing, ancient sounding thing. It's from that primitive period when Brian was useless for rock and it was just the raw core of the Stones; Keith, Bill & Charlie.

ah yes the Orpheum show right in my back yard and I could not get in It could have been 200 degrees and been fine with me. One of my all time disapoinyments of being a fan not getting to that show. I beleive r&R Circus and the Orpheum are the only two unless they did it elswhere on Licks tour

based on the time of night the tickets finally got released...i wouldn't be surprised if there were more fans there from the west coast than the east...

Stonestod - yes I remember joining that darn fan club and when the pre-sale was supposed to start the site was down. The whole thing was a bummer.

Really one of the best latter day performances. Unbelievable they only did it once that tour.

Same case with Heart Of Stone, imo - although they played it a bit more, I think.

I'm very pleased that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed this great surprise on that indeed very hot evening in the Orpheum. If only you would know the story behind it.... smiling smiley

Re: Parachute woman

i don't think it was much of a surprise...it was known to have been rehearsed the day before....what's more surprising is that it wasn't played on subsequent theater dates....
