What the Stones will have learnt from Macca

After the slamming Paul McCartney's been getting in some of the UK press from his sub-par performances at the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics opening ceremony, I bet Mick has been taking note and will not want to risk the Stones to go out a similar way...

I have to say, I really do now think August 2007 was the end of them as a live band.

Hopefully we might get a new studio album and more rarities to console us though. Ideally with Mick T and Bill on them!

Yeah, it's just awful Paul's been performing as much as he has been the past 10 years...plus releasing several new studio albums. Wish Mick would have been taking note of all that!

Paul's last album of 'standards' was great. It doesn't always get a spin but I enjoy it when I remember to put it on.

The Stones would have been an entirely inappropriate band as the topping on that wobbly cake. At least all the people could croon along to Hey Jude.

Sir Michael will have learnt from Sir Macca that the advantage with getting paid just a quid is that you won't have to pay much taxes on it!

I never listened closely to the lyrics on "Hey Jude" but the title puzzles me a bit. The song doesn't appear to have much to do with jews or sionism. Why "Hey Jude"?

Google it. It's an interesting story.

As far as I know the song was written for Julian (Jude) Lennon. So it is not political or religous. By the way, Macca's music is more british than the Stones'. The Stones are an english group, but their music has strong american influences.

Original working title was Hey Jules (for Julian Lennon, to console him over his parents' divorce).

No, not about the jews. In addition to fact that it was partly inspired by John's son Julian (also about John's divorce from Cynthia his first wife)...there's the added element that McCartney was even reflecting upon his own situation with then girlfriend Jane Asher.

Like this kind of slamming? I hadn't heard or read anything about it. Then again, I'm not bothering with the Olympics other than to see if the tennis match was actually being shown live, which from what I could tell it was.

Saw Mac last year at Yankee Stadium and I thought he was great...i admire him for touring and recording as much as he has in the last 10 years..perhaps some other's should get off their doff and do the same..not naming names... but a rolling stone gathers no moss... or does it?

People who saw him in concert will all have to agree that Paul is still on top of his game.
Those two performances you are referring to do not reflect Pauls form.
His concerts are still utterly fantastic.

The Stones, august 2007??? Please.... Dude! If those concerts were broadcasted worldwide, the stones would have been a worldwide joke. (that actually counts for all the concerts I have seen on that european leg)

Unfortunately I have to agree 100%.

I know someone that confuses that plant Wandering Jew with Wandering Jude. I've never understood why he does that. On top of that he also is calling a plant Wandering Jude that isn't commonly called Wandering Jew (Tradescantia fluminensis) but rather Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida).

So I used to sing Hey Juuuuuu-DE to him and he never got it.
