You forgot "Dogs" and about two dozen other singles released by the Who during this time frame, some of which didn't even chart.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think all The Beatles singles were number ones.

Strawberry Fields was the first one that missed, I think.

The only band that ever released ten consecutive great singles is the Beatles, who never released a bad one. Even "The Ballad of John and Yoko", probably their worst A-side, achieves the upper reaches of mediocrity.

You must be from the UK, then. Strawberry Fields was the first one that missed, I think.

I don't have a list, but ABBA surely did this too.

Ultimately, another pointless thread. If you're a fan of someone, everything they do is "great". If you didn't think so, you wouldn't be their fan.

In a row???
Tell me what you're on, treaclefingers, I'd like to have some!
Much to my regret, your list is a big mess, chronologically, and that's what "in a row" means, doesn't it? The time frame you're mentioning from She's A Rainbow to Sympathy For The Devil (Edit) covers the period of Dec 1967 through Oct 1973, during which time The Stones released not less than 22 singles, including, however, the ones you listed up.
