As one of the readers commented on that site, it was Chas Chandler who saw Jimi in New York at the Cafe Wha and asked him to go over to London. I remember seeing an early 70s interview with Clapton where he recalled Hendrix sitting in with Cream ..........he knew there and then that the "Clapton is God" thing was over.
