Is it time to rejoin the official fan club?

If they are gonna tour, is there any benefit in doing that now? Last time round there were hypothetically better seats for ling term members but I'm not sure the seats that were available were much better than public tickets in reality.

under rollingstones.com there is no "official fan club" or whatever. I do receive irregularely mailings from them and I assume that is due to the reason I was a fan club member before.
I do not even thing that they will create such thing, except if there will be any touring or very special fan event.

You get those e-mails even when you have never been a member of anything, just when you've registered once to get access to one of them videos they uploaded back in the Licks days.

Recently these mails pointed me to the fact that their 50th aniversary is celebrated in no other way than by offering for sale the same old **** but with the new '50' logo.

No thanks.

If you celebrate your birthday I'd rather show up to drink and dance (preferably at your expense) than send you a cheque.

Did you really get emails from The Rolling Stones Fanclub nowadays?

I get emails from

"Rolling Stones Webstore" and "Stones Archive Store",
both from [customerservice@bravadousa.com]
and "Bravado" will be a Universal company.
Have a look at: [www.bravado.de] and [www.bravado.com] and [www.universal-music.de]

In 2003 fanclubmembership got me tickets for 2 clubgigs.
4 Tickets and membership fee for a total of about 450 Euros.
I thought that was a good deal.

With the "Olympia rumour" I looked for it and didn't find anything.

So including the price for the "membership" was that lower than if you just bought the tickets?

Looks at the crap they are peddling... The super expensive bourbon/wine bottles... Crappy 50th logo that my two year old could have designed! No dice. They can't offer me anything until Mick and Co stop over-charging across the board.

Probaably around 1/3 of public tickets (those shows usually having around 1/3 of tickets going to VIP) were sold by the fanclub presales. 2/3 sold via public sales. For the Olympia, some friends got lucky on the presale (as I did), some others on the day of the public sales. In Utrecht I got my tickets at the venue on the day of the show. So definitely possible to get into a clubshow without a membership, but having one didn't hurt!

Personally, none, that I am aware of. In general, I have no idea. What is the cost? Were the tickets cheaper after paying the membership fee or do you still get soaked? Jagger said "You don't pay twenty bucks to get into a club" in 1989. He was right obviously, it's much higher.

none of these were "club" shows, per se. but the Licks theater show tix were the cheapest for that tour...and the tix that i got for the beacon theater show (thru my club membership) were free....
