Yep..certainly lesser known than the Checkerboard show as it wasnt bootlegged, but it took place the day after the Stones' show at Soldier Field and the day before they played St Paul.

Details are a bit scant, but from nzentgraf.de this is what's known. By the sound of it, Ronnie had a busy evening!

780709A 9th July: MUDDY WATERS. Chicago, Illinois, Quiet Night Club
The Stones jam with Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Pinetop Perkins & band
One of the line-ups: KR (gtr)/MJ (voc)/RW (bass)/CW (dr)/Muddy Waters (gtr, voc)

780709B 9th July: LEFTY DIZZ. Chicago, Illinois, Kingston Mine Club
RW jams with Lefty Dizz and his band.

780709C 9th July: JUNIOR WELLS. Chicago, Illinois, Wise Fools Pub
RW jams with Junior Wells and his band.

About five years ago, someone from this board e-mailed me to say he had a recording of the Muddy/Stones performance and also that he had taped a show in St Louis in 1972 - neither of them had ever circulated, and the setlists for both werent known. He'd offered to share them but I didnt hear from him for a while and then got an e-mail from his wife a few months later to say that he'd unfotunately passed away. So, whether the recordings were bonafide I'm not sure, but it seems they never got widely distributed, if they were circulated at all.

Is the Marley show the one w/ Lee Jaffe on Harmonica?

For years I thought it was a local Chicago player sitting in w/ Marley's band...

I knew about the Checkerboard show for years and have seen RW & KR w/ Lefty...did not know about the Stones sitting in w/ Muddy a second time.

Just when you think you know a little something...

Thanks!

Thanks Gazza for the info. Tape story is interesting. Maybe lost forever.

Lee Jaffe is mentioned yes. He plays very nicely on REBEL MUSIC song.

1978: After crashing legendary bluesman Willie Dixon's house in Chicago, Dixon takes the Rolling Stones to the local Quiet Night Club to join Muddy Waters and his band onstage and jam with them on several of their favorite Muddy songs, including "Mannish Boy."

Thanks for the picture, Rocker 1. This show should have been taped and filmed. And Mick is better dressed here than in the 81 show. Do we have a setlist to this one?
