The new Jim Marshall '72 photo book thread
Posted by: hbwriter ()

Just about to go through it - on first blush, nice - a little small, formatwise - but some unseen gems inside - along with many others familiar to die hards (I wish they would pre-release so many on the internet for the click-churning slideshows) Oh, and Keith's "Foreword" is five stubby sentences that barely constitute a paragraph -seriously - a couple of tweets worth.

I do have to see upon first review - Jolie Jones - Quincy Jones' daughter - was absolutely stunning. Wow. And it looks like she's with Keith - and at this time she could not have been any more than 15-16

There are so many beautiful pics. I want to post more. I really love the backstage, airplane pics the most. With the STP entourage.
But right now I only have time to post this one: the last shot of the book.
Two things I noted about the book: it is small in size; and Marshall included all in the pics. It's not 90% Jagger pics. Matter of fact I was struck at how many Wyman pics there are.

PS I also noticed Jolie Jones; seems to be Keith's girl

Not released until September?

has Jolie Jones' name ever popped up in connection with Keith/the '72 tour? Al Kooper was supposedly also infatuated with her - he even wrote a song for her. And again, she was born sometime between '57-'66 according to records - so even if it's 57 - she's just 15-16 years old in these shots.

Wait...she's not that black chick with the afro is she?
No way.....I thought that was Keith's drug connection/and/or baby sitter. She looks a hell of a lot older than 16.

Mystery solved! For me at least. I never understood why there were no details about her...she's pretty prominent in CS Blues.
16??? Wow.

I wonder how Quincy felt about his 16-year old daughter watching over a stupefied, shooting-up Keith in 1972. Amazing - I never knew of this connection.

again - her birth details are sketchy - you can look it up - quincy and the mom were married '57-66 - everything says she was born within that period - she's a children's author today

Beautiful, exotic, young, connected, yes she was a perfect addition to that entourage. I wouldn't make too much of her age she looks old enough to know what she was doing and man those sure were different times. Lots people in those pictures that didn't make it to see this book published. peace

Bill, Brian, Mick and Keith have probably knowingly shagged 13 - 14 year olds.

I thought Angela Davis was the " Sweet Black Angel"....guess we may have gotten that one wrong, at least in part.

She was. Mick and Bianca marched at a rally for Davis in Paris in March 72...and Mick has said there was a picture of Davis hanging on the wall at Nellcote while recording. On the night Davis was released from prison, Jagger introduced "Sweet Black Angel" in either Houston or Dallas: 'Who got free today? Angela Davis got free..far-out' or something to that effect. That was the only time they played the song.
I'm still curious how Jolie Jones hooked up with Keith.

It's not 90% Jagger pics. Matter of fact I was struck at how many Wyman pics there are.

Are there lots of good Taylor pics as well?

Was gone for a while; am going to post some more.

We all think of the Exile sessions in the swampy Nellxcote basement. But it seems that the real sessions took place right here; with Jagger hovering over Keith's guitar. There are many shots of the two of them working.

Taylor in hotel room; solo w/ the Blues.

Could this be one of my favorite STP pics?

Ted Newman Jones watches as Taylor and Keith warm up.

I was in that studio recently and can line up exactly where they sat, stood, etc - it's interesting - very little has changed
