being in London i decided to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary going to 117, Church Road in Barnes. Olympic Studios of course are not there anymore they're building cinemas on the site. I was just happy to have seen the outer walls but then i approached the glass door under the scaffolds and tried to look through the inside when a man opened the door and asked me what i was looking for. i asked confirmation that those where the former olympic studios he said "yes" i asked him if i might just have a peep inside and he...
we'll he smiled and gave me a complete tour guide inside the building!
He even brought me with an elevator full of debris in the basement where a still working recording studio is. He told me that "one of them" come here sometimes to record. Unfortunately the light system had been completely turned off so i could see that part only thru the light of my cellphone: carpets, stools, a drumkit and two congas in a separeted box.. i could just take a picture from the inside toward the light coming through the door from the other room.
The man was really kind and gave me all the time i wanted to see and feel the place and take pictures.
On getting out he even peel off the protecting carpet to show me the original logo of the studios underneath
It was really something special )
here are some pics
