I remember up until probably last year or even earlier this year, whenever the idea of a scaled down tour with a limited amount of shows was brought up that was always met with "the stones won't do anything unless its on a big scale, it would have to be a major tour, ect." Now the talk has changed.

Wouldn't they had make already an anouncement if they were to tour next autumn?
Why announce a fall tour for autum of 2013 NOW?

b) I dont think the Stones can sell out multiple nights in Euro arenas (or anywhere for that matter) unless they drastically change their ticket pricing structure.

Madonna only sold 35.000 tickets out of the 60.000 or so last Thursday in Brussels due th high ticket prices. I even won two tickets but gave them away of course..

I'd be surprised if any shows in 2012 are anywhere but North America.
Is that because of the whole weather issue? Does Wyman take a steam ship to New York in that case, or is he out?
a) They cant play football stadia in Europe in winter/autumn. Venues not available and its also too cold. Half of North America would be out for the same reason. Stands to reason
b) I dont think the Stones can sell out multiple nights in Euro arenas (or anywhere for that matter) unless they drastically change their ticket pricing structure. They'll do well in Canada which has avoided much of the economic malaise so far...I can't imagine what the situation is in Europe right now.
c) They havent played the US since 2006. Its America's turn. An American tour start also makes more sense in terms of finance and media impact. They do seem to be doing better than Europe at the moment
d) Whilst I admit this is just personal opinion and I'm not privy to any inside info confirming it, I'd personally be amazed if any sustained period of touring will include either Wyman or Taylor in anything more than the occasional cameo/guest appearance. I'd love to be wrong, but I think a lot of people are letting their fantasies override their sense of reality. I honestly can't see Bill not just flying TO the US, but then flying AROUND the US every few days on a touring schedule. But to this end, if Wyman simply 'got' to the US, let's say by ship, and they did extended residencies in a few centres, he could simply 'train' around the country. Not saying it would happen, but as they are not likely to go out on an actual tour, as before, it is far more likely than before that Wyman could in fact 'gig' in North America

In France, we'd been having the right-wing for ten years on.
Very simple and expected, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer.
And the middle class seems to be preferring to spare than to consume.
So, middle class fans will have to spare for a few months to buy tickets

if they really "tour", there will be no stadiums, just small venues, maybe arenas, important places that marked their carreer, New-York (MSG ?), Chicago, London (Marquee), Paris (Olympia), etc etc...
Maybe I missed something but nothing about a new album ?

What are they going to charge for tickets for that to make it worth their while? £10,000?
Combined with karaoke - for every song a person from the audience sings, there will be a £ 2.000 discount ;o)Quote

They are actually thinking about billing this amount per ticket for multiple 1-song shows on the same day, in tiny venues. It will be called the Jukebox tour. Get to the venue, show your ticket and wristband, vote for a single song among 50, go to your seat, the Stones come out to play the song with most votes, applause, get out off the venue, onto the next show with another bunch of 3000...
I totally forgot that the Marquee was closed (in 2008).Quote

You've obviously missed the fact that the Marquee closed years ago, for starters.
You seriously believe the Stones are going to crank up their touring machine again, rehearse for weeks and then play hardly anything but tiny clubs or 3,000 capacity theatres?

I personally dont think that any tour will be longer than about 50-60 concerts. Certainly the days of 120-140 date concert tours are over.
Either a series of large scale one night stands or a few extended runs in select cities.

That sounds good. They can just mime to a pre-recorded tape. In and out, dont even have to set up instruments.
None of this is going to happen, because Mick is most likely going to be a judge on America Idol, and he can't be at two places at the same time.

it's just a feeling that makes me think they don't want or can't (because of Keith or Charlie ?) play big stadiums like they used to.
I hope I'm wrong !

ok we'll wait and see !Quote

Why would someone's age or health prevent them from playing a guitar in a stadium, but not in a theatre? Or playing the drums? Its the same thing
