What has happened to Mick's fashion sense?
Posted by: Bliss ()

In the Superheavy video, he wore a bright pink suit; at his daughter's recent wedding, he wore a shiny lavender striped suit; now here he is in an electric blue suit for the 50th reunion photoshoot. All at the age of nearly 70.

These are not fashion statements; they make me think he has lost his mind. Does he think no one will notice him unless he wears neon colours from head to toe?

I think Mick has always fancied bright colours, Bliss. Especially blue and purple. I don't mind the blue suit but the suit he wore at the wedding was a bit over the top. But maybe those suits are more common at weddings in Britain?

Mick has a great fashion sense .... for 1973.

Do you know how stupid that sounds? Why don't you go on: Why did Jim Morrison keep that terribly curly hair that was so wild, those clothes Janis wore were too loose and baggy it made her bum look big, Win Butler's hair OH MY GOD WHAT WAS HE THINKING, Jack White's moustache - I mean seriously he needs to grow up.

Since when do these people need to dress according to society's whims?

Well, at least your post made me chuckle.

and you've got
The Rolling Stones

No, I do not know how stupid it sounds; if I thought it was stupid, I would not have posted it.

Mick looks like Beetlejuice in these neon outfits. They'd even be ridiculous on stage. Whereas in the past, he was on the Best Dressed mens list many times.

Where are the football pants and knee-pads when you need 'em?

Mick have done a lot of bad style choices before. At Hyde Park in '69 he wore a ballerina dress, the pink suit was used already in 1981 and on that same tour he used a Peter Pan suit >.<

I think Mick looked sharp in that suit.
Pink suit in the SH video was epochal, I loooove it.
As for the Jade wedding - I think he wanted to tease Bianca a litlle and it seems he managed to piss her of
I like his sense of style and the fact that he does not want to fit in the frame.

Mick is Mick Jagger and therefore he dresses the way he wants. I think he looked good.

If only he could do something about those horrible trainers on his feet.

What a striking contrast between the first and the sixth Stone on that photograph, Disco Volante! You can't believe they were in the same band!

The worst thing is when he matches the colour of his shoes with the jacket or suit.

Who? Mick or Stu?

And btw.: Remember the old image-thing how a real Rolling Stone would have to look like and why Stu never was allowed to be a "real" Stone ...

I think purple ties are common in Britain.

The great thing is they were. No matching suits and haircuts.

Many of his jackets/suits have the sleeves way too long - or the shirt sleeve is also long (forgot the cuff links?) Where is the L'Wren help here, the fashion stylist?

I really don't like the satin styled fabric he uses for his suits. He's started using them on stage during the last tour and now they've crept into just everything he wears. It's way too Wayne Newton for my liking.

I think Mick would thank you for that...or perhaps just say danke schoen.

Yeah, they're cheesy. Mick used to be a dandy bastard in the 70s, with those 40s-style suits, white bucks..... You're right Justin, its less rock and roll than Vegas cheese.
He went from groovy velvet 60s, classic zoot-suit style in the 70s....to the banker look of the 80s with an occasional shiny flowing shirt. Now, he's got the Newton thing going on.

SPeaking of style, has anyone seen Richards family fashion portfolio in the new Vogue. Lovely pictures of the entire clan, Marlon (in what appears to be some kind of hippie dress), Angela, grandkids etc...frolicking in some private getaway....
It's funny: Mick's family was always accused of being the superficial fashion mavens...but the Richards family has become quite the Vogue darlings.

Yes, it's true; Mick has always liked colour - his suit for his wedding to Bianca was light green. The absolute worst outfit I can remember is a dark green velvet suit with a frilly white shirt he wore to a party some years back. [www.dailymail.co.uk]

But I cringed when I saw the flaming pink suit he wore in the Superheavy video.

Whoever designed the elegant Voodoo Lounge stage clothes for him and the band should definitely be rehired as his stylist. Or failing that, Charlie should take him in hand, sartorially speaking.
