At $ 62.50 I would buy it. Quite beautifully made even though the cask looks a bit cheap (is it plywood?).

That's nuts.

Wish I'd thought up the idea of the Stones Bar myself though!

It's just sad. But if people have too much money and they don't need that money to go to Stones shows then fine with me. Personally I would have sent that money to people who need it more in Africa.

Suntory to release limited-edition Rolling Stones blended whiskey

By KAZUKI KIMURA/ Staff Writer
The Asahi Shimbun
July 13, 2012

Suntory Liquors Ltd. will sell a limited-edition blended whiskey--at a suggested retail price of 500,000 yen ($6,300)--to mark the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones, company officials said on July 12.

The whiskey will go on sale on Oct. 30 and will come in a bottle shaped in the band’s familiar tongue and lips design. Only 150 bottles each containing 700 milliliters will be offered.

Six whiskeys will be blended for the limited edition version, and each ingredient will come from a year of special significance to the Stones.

A Yamazaki single malt whiskey from 1962, the year the band was formed, will be included, along with Yamazaki single malt whiskey from 1971, when the finalized tongue and lips design was first used by the band. The blended version will also feature a Yamazaki malt whiskey from 1972, when the band released the album "Exile on Main St." that contains "Rocks Off," a song Suntory has used for its commercials.

Other whiskeys to be included in the blend are the Hakushu malt and Chita grain ones from 1990, when the Stones made their first trip to Japan.

Thanks for the info, TK. Only 150 bottles will make it a collectors item. A more reasonable price would be $625 of course. But maybe there are 150 people willing to pay a steep price for this Whiskey. Japanes whiskey has a very good reputation although I have never tried one myself. I'm not so fond of the cask which looks as if it is made of plywood (or something alike). Maybe someone should put this in the collectors thread?

"Suntori" = aimed at the Japanese/Asian market. We ain't the target for this product, us POOR white people of the US of A or Europe.

Move on, round-eyed folks! thumbs up smiley

They'll have no problem selling all 150 bottles to a country of 127.3 million.
I'm merely wondering how many will be billed to corporate expense accounts.

You are right, TK. And if they are on corporate bills the money is no problem.

You beat me to it. What "values" are we talking about here, exactly?

Did I say cask? I meant case of course. A cask is a bit bigger... Anyway it's the case that spoils this item. When you pay more than $6000, you would expect the case to made out of hardwood not veneer board.

You're absolutely correct, this is nothing but simply very very sad. It should be about the music, and if possible - future live performances. Not this type of garbage. I admit there must invariably be a merchandising side to their continued existence, but this particular kind of absurdity is just a step too far. For heavens sake ...........

Agreed. If I had $6250 to spare, I'd have better things to do with it. And as for the glass - this is a collectors item, remember? It doesn't matter what it tastes like because nobody is ever going to drink it - the whole idea is to be able to resell it completely untouched to some other sucker for some even more enormous price. As with_sssoul remarked in another thread, grrr and bah humbug.
