I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield...
If the quality of new songs should be similar to 4 crappy new songs on Forty Licks or poor ABB then i keep saying that no need to write new songs.
Much better an organic project with the best 10/12 outtakes available.
Does that mean it's a collector's item now ?

Ha ha! No! I don't care. But it does interest me in terms of it being such a normal thing for them to do. They've released how many compilations since 1971? I guess 6 if you include Forty Licks and 7 if you include Rarities.
Only two of those had anything to do with a tour so I don't see why a tour would mean anything as far as releasing something would go. Of course, it's a great excuse.
So if they never tour again no compilation gets released. And nobody would notice.

No way are UMG going to let that contract expire without cashing in with a compilation.
Every contract they've signed, regardless of label, has seen at least one compilation put out. This one will be no different. Especially as it was primarily focussed on their back catalogue with no cast iron guarantee to release newly recorded product.

Well, technically, for a while a lot of the songs that have appeared on their compilations have always been the same. Miss You on REWIND was the LP version where as on JUMP BACK and FORTY LICKS it was the UK single version.
The edit version of Fool To Cry on SUCKING IN THE 70s, JUMP BACK and FORTY LICKS.
Finally got the edit version of Emotional Rescue on FORTY LICKS.
Brown Sugar, Start Me Up and quite a few etc have been the same.
So see, they're not all the same. Sometimes ya gotta climb up into the trees to see the forest while in the trees without leaving the forest.
In regard to you bending over, well, that's up to you. At least do it in private.
I've seen it sell for a premium on EBAY, so sort of yes, it is collectable.

Forty Licks is out of print. All there is is Jump Back and the various ABKCO hits comps.
They gonna give us a Fifty Licks? Where is the supposed new hits comp? All that talk just died. Shouldn't there be something being released real soon?

Not really much point (from their perspective) releasing it with no tour on the horizon to promote it.
I think summer 2012 was the provisional time frame as it was hoped there'd be a tour, but Hansie's info above sounds more realistic.

this is so much bla bla. they will for sure release a compilation. Anyway, it´s their 50th, and if there is a press conference and maybe there´ll be some releases from the vaults, live dvds etc. there will be a 50th anniversary best of for the ordinary listener. what are you thinking all about?

They don't have a cheap Greatest Hits CD in the market, all the hits compilations are out of print except Jump Back and that one is not selling at all.
