Naturalust, I must've missed something. Who called Alan Parsons a loser and where? I never saw that.

I'm serious. Either I missed it or perhaps someone somewhere else said it? It's a mystery to me.

Thanks in advance.

No worries WLTPTB. You misunderstood me, I wasn't talking about Alan P. and to call out anyone for what they offer as an opinion on this board would be hypocritical. It has been resolved. I think Alan is an amazing engineer, producer and musician and it appears we are like minded there.

I hope hb gets a great interview with him next week and that he chooses to share it with us. I will be listening with an open mind and heart.

My questions for Alan are as follows: First, what is his opinion on the state and future of the music business and development of new artists. Secondly, coming from the days of endless analog tape reels where does he sit with DDD production? Has he accepted it whole heartedly? Does he use analog at all in 2012? Finally is he encouraging surround mixes and spending much time with them as opposed to standard two-channel stereo stuff. If hb was able to get some of Alan's insights on those issues I would be a fan of them both. peace

No problem hb, when I see you have gone back and deleted the not so pleasant exchange between us I would be happy to entertain an email discussion with you. At this point you can't blame for for seeing your offer as an unnecessary risk, I hope you don't take it personally. Actions speak louder than words. peace

still working out your bitterness/jealousy issues, I see. Some childhood you must have had.

I want to belive you hb but posts like the above one which rattled my cage show you know NOTHING about the high road. Your hypocracy is transparent and hardly admirable. Quit dishing out advice to me, you know I can't hear you from these heights...

btw If you knew what you were talking about you would know Wish You Were Here had nothing to do with Syd Barrett and everything to do with the metaphor that the current members of Pink Floyd were not there for themselves.

I suggest you watch the documentary of the making of DSOTM and especially the quote from David Gilmour at 35:19. Here it is for you in case you are too busy reading your other threads to search YouTube. peace

Well then you know something Roger and David don't - by the way, I'm sitting down with Alan Parsons next week - I'll give him your best

As far as I've always understood it, Wish You Were Here had EVERYTHING to do with Syd Barret.

Starting at 1:09:

"And when I'm singing, you know Shine On, Syd's right there all the time obviously because the song is just absolutely about him.
You know it's a really good song, it describes how I experienced his disintegration. And it describes as well the great desire I had then,
and still have now, and the passion I have to celebrate him and his talent and his humanity, and to express the love I have for him " - Roger Waters

"Wish You Were Here must be specifically about Syd, but it applies to so many other things" - David Gilmour

If any of these two guys (RW or DG) should have written "life" , who do you think which of them shoul be the author???? (RW or DG??)

Re: OT - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

I was referring to the title Wish You Were Here as I understood it's meaning from DG's statements on the Making of DSOTM documentary. Obviously Shine on You Crazy Diamond was influenced by Syd's story if not directly about him.

I love the story of him walking into the studio during the recording of it. One of the first songs I learned on guitar note for note. It is a beautiful piece of music and some of the live renderings of it with vivid imagry and concert effects are still in the top ten of all my concert going experiences. I never lived in a world without Pink Floyd, they are like the air I breathe, essential. A litmus test of cool for my generation. peace

Roger Waters, who is down to the last seven shows of his Wall tour, is thinking ahead toward an outdoor leg in Europe next summer. He says, "I’ve become very enamored of the outdoor show. It was a super challenge to see if we could take the arena production and make it work outdoors, and it works beautifully, but it is unbelievably expensive. So we are trying to figure out ways to make the numbers add up to go to Europe late next summer." So far the tour has grossed $333 million.

After this leg ends July 21st in Quebec City, Waters says, he may work on his first studio album since 1992's Amused to Death. "I have written so much... I came up with a song a few weeks ago on the road and then I started playing it a bit with the band in rehearsals. I think it may be the central part and also the kicking-off point for another album. If I don’t work on [an album] later this year, it might disappear, and I might never do anything again. So I think I have to and I’m very enthusiastic about it. And it encompasses a lot of the other songs I’ve written over the years. There are tons of them. I just never found a big enough hook to hang them around."

He's done everything else. He should just go on tour and play all of Wish You Were Here and Animals.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

well actually this highly visible place of peace were are at now is just fine for me. But if you wanted to talk about Gram? , lol. Some lessons are harder than others. Strangely this affected me more than I thought words from any faceless internet presence could. It kind of ties into the thread concerning the death of HelterSkelter.

The natural conclusion for me in my new understanding of it says that we can use that same power to make each other happier, healthier, richer and better looking. What do you say we try that approach next? peace

Do you know what? The death of HK affected me in the same moment - life is too short - especially given the fact that I am willing to bet money that if each and all of us were thrown together on a ship together somewhere a sea, we'd get along famously and though there might be conflict, in the end we'd all have each other's back, as lovers of music.

NL - I am fully and unapologetically with you - and accept all my parts in this - moving forward, as gentleman, who still may not agree, but respect each other nonetheless, bless ya, brother.
PEACE
Chris

And StonesTod, deal with it, my man - this is all good smiling smiley
