I didn't see sarcasm in Senor G's comment, but rather exasperation. We've all heard the 'Keith can't play' stuff for eons. Why trott it out again in a thread that simply purports to say the band will all be together to 'observe' their anniversary next week. It just doesn't serve any purpose.

Who cares about Keith's playing. It's all over now. No big tour anymore. So what.
It would be great to see them all together, including Mick T. and Bill. A great reunion.
And of course that great official boot from the 1972 tour!

It was exactly what I was saying. It was about people who want a new stones tour knowing that Keith can't play. I am ok with this anniversary and the opening of the vaults as they do it since 3 years. Don't need a new album or a new tour, but this is only my point of view... if I have the right to have one and to give it.!

In hindsight everything makes sense, right? I mean, Jagger was alraedy last year talking about that exact date, and that of having done a research for that. Being Jagger - we should have known - he won't do things like that just for fun or curiosity. He had something in his mind going on. It was also the time he talked about lots of "lovely things" to come.
Anyway, in the Stones universe - as it is reaching its 50th Anniversary - there seems to be two co-existing realms. One is that of 'archive project' that seem to go steadily forward - bootlegs, deluxe albums, movies, books, documentaries - and that's a topic Jagger chooses only to talk about. Then there is the realm of The Rolling Stones recording/live performances project, of which we hae heard some rumours, guesses, hopes, etc. from Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie, but NOTHING from Mick.
I am with the Jagger camp here: there should be archive recordings, albeit issued on CD. There should also be deluxe editions of albums such as Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Goats Head soup.
I am none to keen on a book of Stones photos and memorabilia, as it is the music that matters not the message, unlike Bob Dylan.
To me it looks like that the 'realm one' is a firm thing, and its course had been decided upon ages ago, but the 'realm two' sounds like a process that is ongoing insecure business, and - I assume - there had been some troubles along the way in making it work. Let's see if in next thursday these two realms converge a bit each other.

Very good analysis
Opening the wine cellar seems to be a safer business than building a new grapevine under poor weather- and environmental conditions (realm 1 vs. 2).
But sometime you must build a new grapevine to fill up the wine cellar.
Let's hope they dare to go out even when a crossfire hurricane is out there ...

I´m looking forward to what all the guys on this board who doubt Keith is fit to do a rhythm and blues-set say when he "rises from the ashes", LOL!
Remember, you have just READ that he can´t play, or that he hasn´t played during the last 5 years. Others have HEARD him play, i.e. from his recordings with Steve Jordan.
Let´s see what the man has to offer us, before we jump to conclusions, all right?

Still no excuse for saying something as stupid as a 'it looks like a farewell press conference' when not a single thing has ever eluded to such a thing. On their 50th anniversary they're going to say 'We're done! Thank you!'? Ha ha ha ha ha. Noooo. It may be about how there are going to be lots of lovely things to be bought. It's all about the money and always has been. Mick finally understands that the past is more important. So their 'moving forward' is all about the past. No need for them to say 'farewell' when release wise they're not going anywhere as far as being a 'band' that is releasing 'new' things. And what those 'new' things are is a mystery at this point.

What are you so serious! If it's over tomorow, it will be over, No tears. Stones music and others give me some good times and that' all. Now if you become constipated each time a reply doesn't please you, the good news is that you save paper. Good for earth. Thanks to you. very ecological

Who the hell is Ronnie Woods?
I knew a dude in High School named that. I am sure suprised to find that he seems to have replaced Ronnie Wood in the Rolling Stones! Maybe if I practice the keytar, they will let me join Flock of Seagulls.

Sorry Gazza, I am surely wrong when I talk about farewell press conference but why all these people would like to see a person suffuring when he plays only some minutes. Last show was 5 years ago... Do you really think keith could play without playing during all these 5 years. There is no healing for arthritis. (ok Gazza, come on I am not a doctor too). Until now, I was always pleased to read your interventions but why to be sarcastic, it was only my point of view. Tell me if next time i should have to ask an authorization before to comment something.

Watching some of the Checkerboard Lounge video. You know, at their age, they could take their show on the road, just play old blues numbers (which they wouldn't even have to rehearse) and it would be the greatest Stones show since the 72/73 tours.

All very well in theory, but the 2012 version of the Stones' target audience wouldn't recognise the blues if it jumped up and bit them on the arse.
