Happy 4th of July
Posted by: latebloomer ()
Date: July 4, 2012 18:03

Spent last night at the Washington Mall to see the rehearsal for A Capitol Fourth. Unfortunately it got cut short because a storm was moving in, but I did get to see Kool & the Gang, Russell Watson, Javier Colon, Kelly O'Hara, Megan Hilty, and best of all John Williams conducting his "Olympic Fanfare." Sometimes it's grand living in the DC area, Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Very nice, thanks Edith Grove, I have the DVD of this show, haven't watched it for a while, maybe I'll pull it out for tonight. Too hot here to do much else until the sun goes down.

Happy 4th of July from the colonies!! In honor of this most glorious holiday, I present to you a video of me and my friend back in 2007. I had 78 roman candles sitting in my trunk... Decided to tape them around an old broom stick. My buddy Adam holds it for the first round and I lit it with a torch made from a tshirt. Since only half of them actually lit, I held it the second time.

A real family summer BBQ with fireworks day here in America for most. I've often wondered what the British feel about our special holiday? I know there are more than a few here, please fill me in, with thanks.

I always use the day to taunt my British friends a bit but it never seems to have the desired effect. peace

Do you hate BBQ just as much as I do His M? The ugly smell of roasted flesh. And all the stinking smoke. Yak!

Sure Doxa, as long as you can throw on a few veggie burgers!

Best 4th of July celebrations were when the Beach Boys used to play on the mall in DC back in 80,81, I can't really remember how many years they were there, but I went to a few of them. One year I had a press pass and got to go up to the top of the Washington Monument and watch from there - what a sight, at least half a millon people partying on the hallowed grounds of our nation's Capitol. Most patriotic I ever felt - after that, the powers that be decided people were having too much fun and they forbid alcohol. Now you have to pass through a security checkpost where everything is searched. The musical guests are much tamer, and the crowd much better behaved. It's definitely a family event now, which is probably for the best, but I sure am glad I got to be there when it was party time with the Beach Boys for the 4th!

Well the flesh being roasted for me tonight is BIG shrimps and fresh Pacific slamon fillets. Fresh ollalieberry and blackberry pie. Did I mention the beer? Imports, lagers, ales and even homemade brews.

And music homemade acoustic style guitars, mandolins, and many stringed things that usually start making noise after the players second beer or so.

Have a great day fellow Americans! Know that we will be musically toasting our European friends at some point during the night, hard to keep their music out of the mix. Even you His Majesty, and your questionable choice of statements. Cheers. peace

That is flag desecration, H M. In some countries that is considered a crime. I would advice you to remove that picture. Some may find it offensive.
