The Andy Griffith Show: One of the most underrated sitcoms ever. This show had heart. Brilliant.

I was born in North Carolina, living in a little town called Granite Falls that WAS, for all intents and purposes, Mayberry.

My dad, who passed away a couple of years ago, first heard this routine, "What It Was, Was Football" on the car radio, parked by the side of the road, waiting for my mom to finish shopping in a department store. He got to laughing so hard sitting there in the car that people were walking by on the sidewalk, thinking "oh, Lord, that poor man, he must have lost his mind or something...."

Maybe Andy and my Dad are having a good laugh together now.

I am sure Aint Bea is waiting for him with a jar of pickles! That show was pure magic.

Thankfully Aunt Bea is still alive and well for me. I live in a community very similar to that projected as Mayberry and my Aunt Bea is still very much alive and well, living with me on the ranch and will turn 100 years old this year! What an honor and joy for me to be around. She still looks after me with a common sense that has long been lost for most. peace
