Do you and MightStonesRollin talk to each other before posting?

MightStonesRollin50 is more of a hyped-up sons of Beatles fan

I love the Beatles, the Stones, and the future Sons of the Beatles equally.

Yes, the sons of Beatles - who have hardly made a spec of music as individuals (save Zak) and have never even played together - are definitely worth "loving equally" with the Beatles or Stones...If you happen to be daft.

Personally, as a New York Mets fan, I love the future 2019 Mets equally with the great 1969 and 1986 teams.

How spoiled would you have to be? Christ, the product we've got over the past year is 10 years worth. And that's before the documentary, and the 3 other promised boots, and maybe a new record and a tour of some kind. And there's the '50' book out soon, and maybe a surprise or two as we get into the Christmas buying season.

If you're disappointed because Keith can't play like it's 1964, or Mick's voice is too mannered/nasal, that Bill and Mick Taylor haven't rejoined the band for a massive world tour, culminating in a final concert in your front room, then you must constantly set yourself up for disappointment.

In fairness, there has been a lot of great stuff released in recent years.

lot of 'great' stuff?...like what for instance?....shine a light--heavily edited and overdubbed?...brussels '73?--any fan who didn't already have that eight times over is not a fan..Hampton '81?--ditto.....books?...please...reissued albums like ya-ya's with 'extras' and gussied up (and ruined) outtakes from exile and some girls?--lazy efforts indeed. no, the word 'great' gets thrown around a lot these days, like 'amazing' and 'awesome'...if you REALLY think about it HONESTLY then you will realize there has been no new music since 2005--seven years without a studio lp of new material..that's what really counts...i would love to hear some new stuff and see a big 50th blah blah blah but mick hates nostalgia, charlie does not give a crap, keith is resting on his past reputation now, and ronnie...well he has no say in the matter even after all these years. Just gimme a new album of blues and forget the rest...i don't want them to embarass themselves on tour if they can't do it anymore....you know that is what mick is REALLY concerned about....the legacy.

First, a lot of the things you brushed aside are actually quite good, especially the extra Ya Yas tracks and "Plundered My Soul". The new SG cuts were also up to par, in my view. As for "new" music: Do you want new for the sake of new? In that case I guess we could have had more things like ABB, which for my money is not something that ever graces my CD player, unlike the other releases mentioned. But I'm all for a new album of blues. We won't get that of course, for reasons that have been discussed here ad infinitum. The Rolling Stones as current recording artists have been over for quite some time. I, for one, am happy to accept that reality and enjoy the offerings from their rich legacy that have finally begun to trickle out.

Lets not forget the Stones made their fame and fortune on the backs of the great American Blues artists they copied and gave tribute to. They owe it to them (if not us) to play in the TRADITION of those old blues artists. That means till they day the drop dead on stage, old, slower but with the soul and feeling built up from years of living and playing their trade.

They do not owe anybody a goddamn thing. If they want to play, they will. Clearly it requires a herculean effort to get these four (or five, or six) humans to agree to simly play music in front of an audience, and that simple fact is to me the saddest thing of all. Worse than age, worse than fingers, worse than feuds. They simply are not a band anymore that needs to create music.

I LOVE THE STONES thumbs up

Well, the TAMI show is amazing. The complete ED SULLIVAN appearances are amazing. PLUNDERED MY SOUL and PASS THE WINE are amazing. TOO YOUNG and DON'T BE A STRANGER are amazing. The GOOD recordings of Brussels, Hampton, and L.A. 75 they gave us are are amazing. (With 3 more to come). LADIES & GENTLEMEN THE ROLLING STONES is amazing. SOME GIRLS LIVE IN TEXAS is amazing. The STONES IN EXILE documentary is amazing. They're all amazingly amazing. And no true Rolling Stones fan would dispute that. (Whatever a TRUE RS fan is, and whoever gets to decide that). I stand amazingly amazed.

Amazing post! And so true! thumbs up

47 shows...and counting...Hyde Park - July 6 & 13

I saw Shine A Light and attended a live show on ABB and thought they sounded fantastic. The audience was screaming their guts out in approval. What show/shows did you attend? Maybe we can get someone else to "weigh in" on the show/shows you attended. A second opinion.

None, fortunately. But seeing Shine A Light (and listening to it) is enough to know. The Biggest Bang is even worse. What a load of trollop that is. Fans screaming their guts out in approval does not equal... there's something but I'm having difficulty figuring it out. You thought they sounded fantastic. Perhaps because it was loud? That's usually the case. Van Halen used to do that, back when Eddie was way bad. The louder it was the more difficult it was to tell how bad off he was.

In regards to why am I here? I'm a fan, of course. A realistic fan. I like Bridges To Babylon and yes it does have some good tunes on it but in reality it's not a very good LP. It just isn't. Take the bunk tracks off and it certainly could have been one of their better LPs. Alas, they had to make it a too long.

Nostalgia? That's all the Stones are now. It has been for quite some time. Just look at Mick's set lists. You're mired in nostalgia, thinking that they'll do another "classic" album. That would be wonderful - if they cared.

It wouldn't surprise me that alot of hyped-up Stones fans could end up disappointed with The Stones 50th anniversary next month just going by some of their posts.

Well put it like this, I'd rather be hearing (an official announcement) that they do have definite and specific plans to play again, rather than being offered a bottle of f***ing whiskey for $6,250 ............... !!

You got any other startling thoughts to share with us this morning ........... ???

[ I want to shout, but I can't hardly speak ]
