Hyped-up Fans Could be Disappointed With 50th

It wouldn't surprise me that alot of hyped-up Stones fans could end up disappointed with The Stones 50th anniversary next month just going by some of their posts.

How spoiled would you have to be? Christ, the product we've got over the past year is 10 years worth. And that's before the documentary, and the 3 other promised boots, and maybe a new record and a tour of some kind. And there's the '50' book out soon, and maybe a surprise or two as we get into the Christmas buying season.

If you're disappointed because Keith can't play like it's 1964, or Mick's voice is too mannered/nasal, that Bill and Mick Taylor haven't rejoined the band for a massive world tour, culminating in a final concert in your front room, then you must constantly set yourself up for disappointment.

Yes, but just think how much fun his next "farewell" thread is going to be.

Who here is hyped up about something that is just a number that doesn't matter to the Stones? At this point it seems there are...4 names now, two of which are the same as two.

WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING. Get a job. Get a life. Get SOMETHING.

Me too; you'd think the Stones would analyse more of their back catalogue, and reissue deluxe editions of the following:

1. Let It Bleed with another 1969 concert
2. Sticky Fingers with Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out
3. Goats Head Soup, with outtakes, and Brussels Affair on disc 2

It's been a bit of a damp squib if you ask me. The archive recordings should be issued on CD, but that looks like it'll never happen.

Secondly, the 50 Year life book is nothing but a sop, a Bread & Circuses to the masses of fans that will hungrily buy it up.

No need to fret! I'm sure the Rolling Stones have got something planned for July 12 that will fill the front pages of every newspaper in the world, bringing them even more worldwide adoration and respect!

It's not that I should f off to Johnny Winter's website; I wish to hear the Stones no matter what, be it with Muddy, or without.

I like Muddy too, and love his last great hurrah on Epic. I am worried, a tad though, that his recordings with the Stones mightn't be as good as those with Winter, Margolin, Cotton, et al.

no need to worry, but these live perfs with the stones are definitely a rag-tag offering. muddy's great bands of the 60's and 70's epitomized the chicago blues sound and tradition like no others...much like miles' two great quintets did for hard bop in the 50's and 60's.

the tour and albums with johnny winter didn't really add to that legacy, imo...but they didn't hurt it, either....

by this date in '81, muddy had fired his great band, of course...and muddy himself as a performer was in serious decline...

Is this the original colonial? From New Zealand? If so, then, cheers, mate.smileys with beer If not, then cheers anyway.smileys with beer

Yes, once you make the decision to become a fan then you become vulnerable to disappointment. For me, I will get over it quickly. I might grumble for a day or two and then move on. Following the Stones has been and always will be a roller coaster ride for me. At some point though you get off and go home. That day could come as soon as July 12 for me or much later. We shall see.

No, we are not a "tag team"! But it is obvious Colonial has unbridled passion for the Rolling Stones.

Can you be any more unnecessarily dramatic? The Stones a band. How exactly does one "get off the rollercoaster and go home"? Are you going to burn your cds and records? Take down your posters above your bed? Are you going to deny their existence? Please, enlighten us!

Now, your talkin, tatters! I would have them sky dive (wearing parachutes of course) with the Sons of the Beatles (who should be their opening act) and land at Twickenham Stadium. Maybe the Sons of the Beatles could land in Strawberry Fields?

A number that doesn't matter to the Stones? If nothing else, they did choose that date to officially release their new book. And I am sure more is coming on that day.

I am retired. I have a great life being retired.

For me it would simply mean not posting here at IORR anymore. Nothing more, nothing less.
