Since Keith has said the band is going to be getting together next month (and with the 50th Birthday on July 12) is it logical to think that maybe they have some sort of surprise (not to them but to the fans) birthday party planned? Seems like such a no-brainer. I mean, have all band members (former members included) present in one location for an official Rolling Stones 50th birthday celebration? Was Mick joking when he said he might just have to jump out of large cake? Of course the media would be invited for maximum exposure. It would be great publicity and a fantastic way to kick off the 50th anniversary year. I love the idea. What do you think?
Ahem, well I've already had my invitation and accepted, even bought a new frock for the old lady. Sorry if you guys have been forgotten but will post details and pix in due course
'Someone left the cake out in the rain....'

I know one thing, and that is, if Stones management hasn't considered what I have suggested then they should be fired for incompetence. Any manager or promoter worth a damn wouldn't dare miss a "golden opportunity" such as this.
There are still 19 days to go until the Stones 50th birthday. Will they make a official announcement regarding some sort of birthday celebration sometime within the next few weeks? The Stones are meeting next month in London. Maybe this is at least partly what that is about? If not, then it should be. It's a no-brainer.

Sorry, but if Rolling Stones management drops the ball on this one then the responsible party/parties should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY for incompetence!
The Stones are going to be in London in July. There 50th birthday is on July 12. What would be so difficult to have them all in the same place on July 12 for a little birthday celebration? How difficult would it be for them to invite the media to such an event? It's a No-Brainer.
If the Stones blow this "golden opportunity" then it is true that I don't know them as well as I think I do. I would then be motivated to write them offering my services. Fortunately, I don't think that is going to be necessary, but I have been surprised before.

If they don't do some form of media event (like a birthday celebration or press conference) on July 12 then I am done with them and will move on to other hobbies.

Only if the Stones blow their 50th birthday will I fire myself - from this forum, that is. I made a decision sometime back that July 12 was my personal "D" Day as far as whether I would continue (or discontinue) following the Rolling Stones. If they don't do some form of media event (like a birthday celebration or press conference) on July 12 then I am done with them and will move on to other hobbies.

You will move on to other hobbies? You mean, you'll leave IORR and come back with a different user name again? I can't wait to find out what you'll use this time!!

You say that a lot yet always seem to be clear that they will. Perhaps you need to have a intervention with the truth. The Stones have never let me down because it's a band, not someone I depend on for something.

The plan for the 50th begins with this announcement
"The Rolling Stones celebrate their 50th anniversary today. The band would like to thank their fans for buying all their stuff over the years. You too join the birthday fun by buying more stuff."
That ends the 50th birthday celebration.

Honestly, Gumboot, how many actual identities do you have on this forum? My guess is, at least four, and maybe as high as a dozen?

multiple identities are the way to go. you only get one physical identity, which is a bummer. wouldn't it be nice to have 10 or 12 different physical beings that you could have at your disposal? well, you don't...but here at iorr, you get as many personalities as you like. makes no sense to just settle for one.

Sounds reasonable to me, as explained.

That's good that you are not dependent on them. That way you will never be disappointed in them. I like living on the edge - rollin the dice. If they come through and do what I think they will do, (and should do) then I stay. If not, then I go. It's as simple as that. Fortunately, I have lots of other hobbies to fall back on. I honestly don't take myself or rock 'n' roll too seriously, although it may seem otherwise. I am mostly here to have fun and engage in healthy and respectful discussion. The Stones could retire tomorrow and I would be just fine. So, don't worry about me needing intervention and try not to take things too literal.

What edge? There is no edge. The edge of the Stones stopped in 1969. What you think has zero relevance, just like the rest of us. You're just taking up space.
You seem to have misunderstood your own reasoning with "to have fun and engage in healthy and respectful discussion". How does that equate to such silly threads that you post?
I get your love for the band, intensity, etc but you look at someone like Gazza's posts (and a few other people), Gazza never expounds upon such personal blathering rambling fictional theories etc. You really need to dial it back A LOT. You are the personification of Stonescrow, The Watchman, Colonial and maybe a couple of others I've lost track of or it all just blends together. Have you ever considered that no one here takes you seriously? Don't answer that. That you come off as some lunatic that just runs their fingers over the keys and posts on Kool-Aid?
Don't answer that either. Even with the idiocy it is fun to retort, respond, etc but your posts do get old. It's the old addage, hard to look away from a crash. Sons Of The Beatles birthday has come and gone. The Stones don't care. It's just another number in how old they are combined.
