Stones officially set to record and tour
Posted by: stonesnow ()
Date: June 19, 2012 23:34

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet:

www.rollingstone.com/music/news/rolling-stones-gather-to-plot-50th-anniversary-bash-20120619

Probably because so many fans keep wishing/willing them to retire... but they won't.

According to the stones, as approved by Jagger Richards.

Thanks for the post! Interesting! I'm also very keen on the documentary. If it really has 80% unseen material, that should be fantastic. But you never know.

How about this for a new term, from Merriam-Stonesnow's first edition:

senephobia (sen-uh-phobia) n: fear of senescence (being old); senephobe: one who fears old Stones.

Alright, all you senephobes. How many agree with the ageist commentary sections of those online news sites who believe rumors published by the likes of The Mirror UK, that they should just retire anyway?

m not so sure how much 25 X 5 can be improved on - I thought that told the story very nicely.

There is still some unfinished business they need to take care of. Those that think they were destined to go out with a whimper are going to be surprised. That isn't in their nature and anyone that calls themselves a Stones fan should know that. No, they are going to go out in a blaze of glory, and if that ruffles some feathers with some fans then so be it! Get Over It!

Agreed. I was thinking the other day how 25 x 5 came out in '89 so it was marking their anniversary since '64 rather than '62....

Next you're going to say that not much of value has happened in the subsequent 25 years...er...

Probably because it doesnt actually say they're 'officially set' to record and tour at all....

Keith saying he'd love to do something doesnt make it 'official'.

Dude I am truly impressed by this one. That is hilarious, too cool and fits well the mentality of some of our posters here. Sweet! peace

"We're going to talk about that in July and see. I mean, I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks, yeah."
Does Richards see himself writing one-on-one with Mick Jagger again? "Oh, yeah," he says. "I have no doubt."

Looks promising.

stonesnow, there's nothing "official" in that article. They're getting together to see whether or not they will record an album. "strongly considering" and "officially set to record and tour" are not the same.

I don´t know where you read a Stones official annouce. Keith just said what he would like to do.
The article doesn´t has any official announce.

Well if they're getting together to consider an album, they must have some new songs on the shelf.

Oh, and later in the year, you can eat my words as a side order to Keef's crow-stuffed shepard's pie.

Yes, there is no official announcement as yet. But they are convening to discuss tentative plans, so it's more a prelude to an official announcement. And that's good enough for me!

So that's all it is. You're just feeding your ego with a "I told you so" post. Good to know...

My ego? I thought this forum was about the Rolling Stones and news, etc.

You must admit the article has more substantive news than The Mirror UK/Glastonbury rumors cited in other threads. I'll bet, that unlike Ronnie Wood earlier this year, Keith won't be required to retract his thoughts about upcoming studio time.

And I'd also wager that when the Stones convene in London in July (12th?) they'll be drinking a toast to their half-centennial inaugural gig.

Don't confuse my enthusiasm for ego, pal--I don't have anything to promote!

Fantastic News!

Can't we do something to stop them so all the narcissistic idiots in love with their own opinions who've rigidly proclaimed the Stones will never perform again can save face? (Poor babies!)

Re: Stones officially set to record and tour

The end game is all that matters. You can look at Keith's words in a number of ways, but the bottom line is that the "hints" are starting to come more frequently. Could very well be that they are much further along than Keith's words indicate. Could also be that Keith is telling it exactly as it is. Either way, we will ultimately get our new album and some form of tour.

..well it's certainly not "official" !!!

The article, while encouraging, lacks any input from Jagger. At this point his is the only voice that matters.

The young male ego is so extremely fragile. Many of them will dig their heels in even deeper and begin to look for any little flaw they can find in Keith's performances. No way they are going to spoil my 50th anniversary celebration!
