it could be true, unless of course it isn't.

They've always denied they would ever announce a tour as being the last one, but we'll see...
Not announcing it publicly doesnt mean they wont DO a 'last tour'.
Anyone who thinks that the Stones - a band who are around 70 years old, who have band members in questionable health and who take half a decade off at a time - have more than one more major tour in them is in cloud cuckoo land.
Keith was out voted 2-1. Ronnie was up for it, but his vote obviously doesn't count.

What on earth are you talking about?
A few carefully selected 'quotes' and 'assumptions' isnt evidence of a band vote!

Exactly. Is mirror.co.uk a reliable source or is it a tabloid? The thing is that I don't believe that news like that would come out this way. I just don't believe it.

I always find it interesting when the Stones are compared to the old bluesmen in terms of longevity and touring etc. Frankly, I see very few similarities.
The reality is that the Stones are amajor corporation. They dont sit there like Buddy Guy and say "I'd sure love to tour Canada - think Ill get a little band together and head out" I mean, the Stones couldnt do that..When was the last time the Stones just went out and played a show without an elaborate stage set up? Even on Shine a Light, they had a very sophisticated set up..
Also, guys like BB, Buddy etc..tour almost every year. They still put out product--as in music---not wine! They stay in the game and are still playing very well . The Stones? Well , Woody did good disc 5 + years ago, Charlie is a Jazzer, Mick did Super Heavy....so in other words they aint doin much.

Good comments. The way I see it is that Mick and Charlie have lives outside of the Rolling Stones. Keith and Ronnie would probably have liked for them to tour more often over the years. Now it is too late, but to do one more tour and call it quits. Sure, we would all love them to spend their final days on earth banging out country and blues albums and doing a few clubs, but it appears they will head their own separate ways after 2013. If only we were writing the script?

Re: The 'reliable source' vs 'tabloid' debate. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Most stories that are leaked or broken by UK newspapers are done in tabloid newspapers. Its not as if they invent or distort EVERY story.

I am talking specifically about the 50th anniversary year. What lies after is anybody's guess, but this article isn't in conflict with anything my source has been telling me. Keith was up for doing one final blockbuster tour, but Mick had the final word. He always does. I am glad they are planning on a small scale tour. Just hope we get a new album to go with it.

I doubt there is or was a vote as Mick holds the cards.
Why have a vote when they know Keith wants to play, Ronnie wants to play, Charlie will likely go along with the majority, and Mick is the indecisive one, or he has decided and just hasnt shared his plans with anyone as he doesnt want a leak.
I'm told Keith's playing is not the problem, if there is a problem, and that's from people who have seen him recently playing, and often.
Don't ask.
What we do know is they've played together twice in the past few months, so there was a reason for that, but probably only Mick and Keith know the exact reason, and eack may have had different reasons.
It's a chess game with those two, but at least they're still playing, to some degree anyway.
The money factor is interesting. Charlie and Keith likely don't need it, Ronnie needs it, and the driving force behind everything may be how much Mick needs it to continue or to grow. He certainly isnt making moey from his Non-Stones ventures into recording or producing or acting. He likely is a keen investor, so that probably makes his Stones income less important, but I think this may be one of the biggest decising factors for him as to what direction to take. I know you may say he's worth hundreds of millions, but when one has a very expensive lifestyle, that can go somewhat quickly.
I do think from a gut and nothing else that there may be some truth to this rumor.
I doubt the rumors that said Mick was rehearsing the Stones for 7 days to see if they could play SNL. Look at their history, when have they laid off for years and then rehearsed for a week and played such a high profile gig?
Mick may read these boards as much as any of us, probably at least glances often IMO, and maybe he agreed to play in December and then even organized the follow up when he know he'd be in NYC for SNL so he could see how they sounded after another week, and to start making plans for the 50th. Remember ronnie is also a key piece and he likely wanted to make sure he stayed in shape, which he has done!
Whatever is happening, it should be interesting, and guessing and speculating is kinda fun.

IFthat is the case. I could see him doing a few of the UK shows, but doubt he'll come to America, at least in an airplane.

Even if true, I think we all know that if they go on the road and start (1.) having fun, (2.) making money, and (3.) playing well, that they will add additional dates and additional legs if they feel like it.

Despite the copy and paste and tabloid-ish style way the article is thrown together, the basic gist of the story (a few gigs, summer 2013, final tour and Glastonbury) are a believable and realistic scenario.
The final night of Glasto 2013 will be Sunday 23rd June if thats the case, then.
